The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

My husband and I really enjoyed the show. We feel it should have at least showed the other 5 episodes before cancelling it. I was nice to have shows in the summer that were NOT reruns. Since DVR came out I feel people would have given it a chance especially this fall it would have has a better chance. Its sad when peolpe start to like something then BAM just like that its gone with no warning.
I am very disappointed that they took this show off the air. It was the only thing I watched on Friday nights, everything else is crappy. I think they should give this show another shot, put it on a different night of the week and start it in the fall when most people stay home. This was unfair of them to cancel the show they didnt give it a fair shot.
How could that show be cancelled. My husband and I loved it. Miami Medical was so much better then some of those other Medical shows on TV. What are the chances of bringing it back?
OMG! i cant believe its canceled, my opinion you didnt give it enough chance. that is crazy my husband and i loved it, we looked forward to it every week, i think there should be a second season, it was better then ER in my opinion. maybe it needed more advertisement on other channels, who knows, i think it needs another chance. i dont even see it as a rerun and thats sad.
Miami Medical started out slow on the pilot but we really enjoyed the continuing episodes. We liked the actual medical part of the show although we are not in the medical field professionally. The characters melded with each other and seemed very believable. We preferred Miami Medical over Mercy because it was more actual medical drama and it was not so much a soap opera like Mercy was.
Does anyone know if this will be coming out on DVD???
@pengooz: No plans yet.
The show would have done better with a Fall start, when people are finding new shows. I really liked this show, and I thought it could have become the new ER. Oh well, it seems like every time I like a show they cancel it.
I agree!
The Medium is so overrated…Why not put Flashpoint at 8:00 PM, Miami Medical at
9:00 PM amd CSI Miami at 10:00 PM? This way, Miami Medical would be surrounded
by two of my favorite shows and I would be a happy Friday night watcher this fall.
Miami Medical did not have a chance to get going, please bring it back for another season and see how it does…thanks.
My wife and I are sorry to discover that Miami Medical has been cancelled after only one season. We very much enjoyed it. Good cast. Much better drama than typical on TV. By comparison, we consider Flashpoint third- or second-rate, at best. Let us hope the powers that be reconsider Miami Medical and give it a second chance–and that it succeeds.
This was such a good show! It should never have been cancelled. It’s one of the better shows out there.
I am truly disappointed to learn that I could no longer find Miami Medical, because you cancelled it. I found it to be an exciting medical show. Way more exciting than any of the other TV medical shows, which I basically did not watch. I actually saved time for it. That’s OK. TNT, A&E and USA have exciting shows. Hope we don’t develop too much of a habit there. 🙂
i am also very disappointed, this was my new favorite show
I LOVED Miami Medical. I loved the characters and the way they interacted. I loved the story lines. They really need to bring it back for a second chance. Move it from Friday night and I bet more people will watch it.
summer viewing is always down they should of aired in the fall and seen where it went! I think it would of done well.
i am very disappointed that cbs cancelled miami medical it was a great show they should have given it a second chance other show need to be cancelled and they don’t remember alot of people dvr like me.
