The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

I LOVED THE EPISODE, BETTER THAN OTHER HOSPITAL PROGRAMS, ER & CHICAGO HOPE. TOO BAD THEY CANCELLED IT. I WAS WONDERING WHAT HAPPEN SINCE I PUT IN MY DVR TO TAPED IT EVERYTIME GIVEN. I HOPE THEY DO SOMETHING
I liked the show and was looking forward to more episodes. I wished CBS would give it a second chance.

If this keeps up I will stop watching tv all together. I hate the reality tv shows, people are being played and they are too stupid to realize it. I don’t know who has a say in what goes and what stays, but apparently someone must be receiving a kick back along the lines.
It seems that everytime we find a program worth watching that it is taken off. Miami Medical was realistic and we could almost empasize with the patients and their problems and we struggled with the doctors as tried to figure out what was going on with some of the strange physical and health issues. We also enjoyed the interplay and powerplay between the various doctors. Is there any way to influence you to bring the show back on? I can’t believe that you did not promote it more. Please make a second season of Miami medical – it’s such an amazing show! Characters are great, funny (and sexy) – the content is strong and clever – I work in a hospital and I really enjoyed the cases! It’s so true! Please be so clever and review/rethink your decision!
Please don’t cancel miami medical it always seems to cancel my favorite show. I love the show they has young doctor,essential doctors that go to the roof he was great. To be really honest I would watch miami medical if it was on the same day and time than Grey Anatomy. It was awesome!!! I am 61 and I love to watch our young actors on shows. This is the greatest medical show that was on put it on in place of Boston Medical. We are going into withdrawel.

Friday nite does not have the number of viewers, esp in summer.
I agree, Miami Medical is one of the best trauma shows I’ve seen in sometime. It’s believable and real on many levels. Canceling this show was a huge mistake.

Miami Medical is/was the best of the best of hospital drama. The time slot was not a good time for a new show. And,,,,,,it was not advertised. I watched it by accident the first time. I cannot believe that Hawthorne is still on and Miami Medical is not.
CBS, bring back MIAMI MEDICAL for Season 2, advertise the show better and put it on another night. Give this show another chance.

I was hoping that with all the MIAMI MEDICAL fans writing in, CBS would reconsider & renew this wonderful series for a 2nd season. I guess they are blind as well as deaf. The petitions & websites devoted to our favorite shows is a more accurate way for a network to see what shows we want to see aired. PLEASE RENEW THIS REFRESHING NO FRILLS SHOW. Is it too smart for people to enjoy? Come on! Most of us enjoy a great show such as this. Keep writing.

I hate that they cancelled such a great show..they should consider cancelling other shows. And leave this one….it was great Friday night viewing and it would of done better on another night too…Please Please Please bring it back, give it another chance!!!!
I think the show should have made and aired more episodes at a distinct day and time every week for a least 13 weeks. The cast is amusing, believable and very much a team. I regret that they discontinued this show and I think the should try again. So many of the “summer season” shows are forgettable. Miami Medical is not.
