A couple weeks ago, FOX decided to cut the episode order for the first season of Minority Report from 13 to 10 episodes. So, has the show been cancelled?
Set in Washington D.C. 2065, Minority Report follows Lara Vega (Meagan Good), a homicide detective who becomes connected with Dash (Stark Sands). He’s a psychic “precog” who’s haunted by images of future crimes and is on a mission to stop them from happening. The rest of the cast includes Nick Zano, Laura Regan, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Li Jun Li, Zhane Hall, and Tina Lifford.
The series debuted on September 21st to a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.1 million viewers. That was a very disappointing debut, especially for a high profile series that was given a lot of promotion from the network. The ratings dropped nearly 20% in week two and then fell about the same amount again in week three.
They evened off in week four but last Monday’s installment hit another new low — falling to an embarrassing 0.58 in the demo with just 1.82 million.
With such terrible ratings, there’s no chance that the network will be considering ordering a second season. At this point, with ratings this low, it’s very possible FOX execs will pull Minority Report off the schedule earlier than planned. At the moment, there’s only one more episode on the schedule.
While the network has not officially admitted that Minority Report has been cancelled (there’s no benefit for them to do so), it surely has been. Production is wrapping with episode 10 and no further episodes will be ordered.
What do you think? Do you like the Minority Report TV show? Are you sorry that it’s being cancelled? Do you think it should be saved?
I hope another network will pick it up or possibly even Netflix ba humbug NBC
I hope it ethier gets a new season Fox or if it moves to another network I get.
you mean fox , right?
It’s like everything else these days — the generation running things now or that matters to all industries wants immediate gratification — they have a sense of entitlement and short attention spans and lack interpersonal skills and patience for anything to develop with time. Everything going on today reflects this. Those of us who aren’t this way, lose.
I honestly love this show so much. I also do agree that another show starring megan good cancelled again. Even thought i haven’t seen deception (megan’s first show) This one is way better, i get annoyed so much that my favorite shows get cancelled after one season. Like are you kidding me.
Off topic but since you mentioned it her 1st show is on Hulu if you want watch it 🙂
I like the story concept. I just wish Megan Goode could make her character more engaging. Ditto for the rest of the cast as well. I’m disappointed because I really want to like and enjoy the series.
Love the show…. the chemistry between Laura and Dash is beautiful! Dash is a cutie…. and I love the writing. Sometimes show start off slow. It is a great show… perfect day and time!
I actually like this show. The longer it has aired, the better the story line. I think this show should be given a chance. Joss Wheaton’s Firefly, apparently had low rating in it’s first season. FOX, cut it from 13 episodes and only aired 10. The show is now a cult classic, and there is chatter about rebooting the series years after its cancellation. If FOX had given it a chance, they might have made a lot of money from the series. It is unfortunate that good science fiction television does not do well these days. I hope the show… Read more »
Move it, promote it, and dismiss the trolls. The right audience will find it and it will succeed. As I recall, Bones took off slowly, too, and how many seasons has it run? I remain a fan of the show and love the fact that it is on Hulu’s roster.
I agree that nobody gives those of us who are committed to watching a chance to see it develop. the networks are basing the viewership on demographics and that is wrong.Good shows go by the wayside while certain
sitcoms and other reality shows continue to pollute the airwaves
Minority Report should get canceled. Fox doesn’t have the brains and the guts to do so.
In your opinion . But if Minority Report does get cancelled I will not only be annoyed it would make 2nd fantastic show starring the actress Megan Good to be cancelled
This show bored me. It should be cancelled.
Yes! Same here.
I agree-boring
I really hope there a few more seasons I love this show.
I cant stand the way they report on the show, love the show, and I strongly believe they should give it a chance. what about the several millions of us LITTLE PEOPLE who watch it each time it comes on? so we don’t matter. give it a chance.
If you read the article, there’s no “several million” of you. It’s down to just 1.82 million viewers, a pathetically low number for a primetime show. There’s no way for a show to be profitable if no one’s watching.
Hate the way these articles talk about shows. “there’s no benefit for them to do so” . People watching these shows don’t matter apparently. The tv industry and Hollywood will crumble and it’s their own doing.
The Minority Report is a great show I don’t know why come back 3 episodes but it’s a great show it’s got great lots to it everybody that I know loves it I love it and I hope you renew it for another season.
Disappointed. People don’t give anything a chance these days. There’s been twists in many of the recent episodes, way better than any NCIS, CSI, Bones, or Castle procedural cop shows. Let’s hope for a decent finale, that’s the only problem with TV series, they cancel shows that have huge cliffhangers. (The biggest one I can remember is The Event and Flashforward, which NBC and ABC shouldn’t have given up on, as it was just getting started.)
Totally agree!!
I love the show and wish they would leave it on long enough to develop networks are always so quick to cancel a show, but have no problem airing brainless reality based shows, news flash not everyone wants to watch mindless television. which is why most of the shows I watch are on Premium channels.
