A couple weeks ago, FOX decided to cut the episode order for the first season of Minority Report from 13 to 10 episodes. So, has the show been cancelled?
Set in Washington D.C. 2065, Minority Report follows Lara Vega (Meagan Good), a homicide detective who becomes connected with Dash (Stark Sands). He’s a psychic “precog” who’s haunted by images of future crimes and is on a mission to stop them from happening. The rest of the cast includes Nick Zano, Laura Regan, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Li Jun Li, Zhane Hall, and Tina Lifford.
The series debuted on September 21st to a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.1 million viewers. That was a very disappointing debut, especially for a high profile series that was given a lot of promotion from the network. The ratings dropped nearly 20% in week two and then fell about the same amount again in week three.
They evened off in week four but last Monday’s installment hit another new low — falling to an embarrassing 0.58 in the demo with just 1.82 million.
With such terrible ratings, there’s no chance that the network will be considering ordering a second season. At this point, with ratings this low, it’s very possible FOX execs will pull Minority Report off the schedule earlier than planned. At the moment, there’s only one more episode on the schedule.
While the network has not officially admitted that Minority Report has been cancelled (there’s no benefit for them to do so), it surely has been. Production is wrapping with episode 10 and no further episodes will be ordered.
What do you think? Do you like the Minority Report TV show? Are you sorry that it’s being cancelled? Do you think it should be saved?
Minority Report was one of my top two shows from last season. Smart show, not over-laden with sex, violence, and bad language. I’m older than the target demo group, but one would hope that there’s a market and an appreciation for a show that does not have to follow typical tv show’s craziness. This is a show that I can watch with family. It is nicely produced, wonderful acting, suspenseful, and entertaining. There’s room for characters to grow. I am looking forward to season two. I’m even sorry to read season one was cut short.
Keep this show…DO Not cancel
Please keep Minority report, it was a great show. They keep these shows on that make no sense. And get rid of shows that actually have a story line. I’m tired of these sitcoms that are made to baby sit people’s children.
Nooooo! Do NOT cancel.
Great show….don’t understand why it was cancelled. The network needs to reverse the cancellation. qqzJM
I enjoyed this show! So sick and tired of vampire, zombies, demons & now lucifer! I loved the movie “Minority Report” with Tom Cruise as the lead. But even with the lead being changed to a woman I think this show deserves a 2nd chance. Megan Goode is beautiful and plays her role well.
Don’t cancel!!!!!!! If they do HULU please pick up!!!!
I really like the show and love the whole story line. Please do not cancel it.
I really like(d) this show . It’s a shame that the only shows that people seem to be interested in are reality. This how was pure entertainment and it was being fine in a different way. As yo see it go.
BRING IT BACK…. BEST SHOW ON TV…I will tell all my friends and family and all my 20000 followers to stop watching FOX if you don’t bring this back
Please do not cancel this so it so entertaining and I feel in love with it I can watch this all day if I had too please dnt do this to us
Please u have to keep this show I’m in love with it. It’s so entertaining and I added it to my weekly watch
This was one of my favs along with second chance! Why are u canceling and moving show times? I waited all week for second chance just to find out it was moved to fri. I dont know who is rating these but I do know alot of people who are watching these shows! please dont cancel them!!!
Keep it! It’s entertaining and different. I’m tired of all the trash on TV and every time I find something fun it gets pulled.
This is a great show. Me myself and I’m sure I’m not the only one can’t always watch the shows when they first come on due to work, family and other obligations and thankfully I have apps like Hulu or can use my DVR to watch at a later time but before canceling so many good shows the networks should figure out the multitude of people who actually watch them ( even if it’s at a later time).
I love this show. I hope Fox lets the show find its audience. If Fox isn’t patient enough, I hope the SCiFI channel grabs the opportunity to step in.
