Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.

I had wondered what happened to Missing. Such a poor decision to cancel. It was clever, creative, sophisticated, visually unique, well acted and written. So what was the issue?
I look at the shows we are left with and most are mindless dribble. A shame.
Me and my son were very dissapointed when we found out that Missing had been cancelled…we need at least a second season for closure. Bring our show back!!!
Missing was a great TV episode and I looked forward to watching it weekly. The show was full of suspense, action, excitement and it was so fulfilling to the point that it left me wanting more and eager to see the next episode. I was wondering when the new Missing episodes would resume and I sadly leaned that the TV network canceled the show. I am very surprised and disappointed that the TV series “Missing” was canceled. A great show , we what it back….
Omg! So disappointed to hear this show is not returning! This was one of the best shows on. With better marketing, more people would know about it. It was like watching a great action movie every Thursday night. The writing was excellent along with a great cast. ABC dropped ball. This was a great quality show. Bring it back, please!
I think it was an awesome show!!!!!!! I was sooo looking forward to the second season. I am very disappointed! I think the only reason why it got a “disappointing start” was because of lack of advertising it. I accidentaly “bumped into” it, and was hardly able to wait for the next week to see it again!!!! Come on ABC!!!!!!
This is crazy! I was wondering why the show wasn’t on, I can’t belive this it truly was a show I could not miss. They need to bring this show back.
I am so incredibly disappointed. This show kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t wait for the next week’s episode! Ashley Judd and Cast, Writers, Directors and Producers did a phenominal job with this show. Because of my schedule, I always watched this OnDemand and could never get enough. ABC made a HUGE mistake. This show was a goldmine and probably needed a better time slot/night. Please bring it back!!
I loved watching this show but also because of the actors in it like Ashley Judd. It’s pretty sad that this show got cancelled especially since there are so many shows on tv that aren’t worth watching. I wish ABC would bring it back. This is one show I looked forward to seeing each week. I don’t watch much tv but this was one show well worth enjoying.

I have been wondering about Missing. So I checked. It was my favorite show ever. I LOVED the international flavor and Ashley Judd was phenomenal. Whoever makes these decisions sucks!
So sorry to hear this show is not being renewed. Loved seeing each new location the show was filmed. Thought Ashley Judd and the entire cast did an excellent job! I agree that it’s time to bring back more shows like this, where real actors act, and writers create.
Have had enough of reality TV.
I just now found out it did poor in the ratings and was cancelled. I liked the show and watched every episode. I was doing a search to find out when the new season was suppose to start and found out it was cancelled. Too bad, maybe with the release of the movie Taken 2, it might have gained some new viewers. I sure can pick them. My favorite new show last year, Tera Nova, was also cancelled after one season.
THis was the best show I’d seen in a long time. Couldn’t wait to watch it every week, and was chomping at the bit for season 2 to start. I’m sick of hearing about the 18-49 year-old demographics for TV viewership. Some of us are not in that age range, but still know good TV when we see it! Get rid of all those ridiculous “reality” shows and bring back some good entertainment!
I loved the show, interesting thrill ride, that a shame! Too much class for US, the brain-dead would rather watch Honey Boo-Boo!
