Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

loved it!!! bring it backkk
really disappointed to see this show go. great cast, great story lines….bring it back!
WTF?? 2 episodes??? Why even produce and air it in the first place if you are not even going to give it a chance. ABC sucks. The only good thing they ever did was pick up the last season of scrubs. I hope somebody else picks My Generation up…it had real potential.
Who the heck is running these networks? I am so tired of them canceling the great shows, but they let all the crappy stuff stay on!!!! My husband and I loved loved loved this show!!! I was so excited to see the story lines play out. ABC: you’ve lost a family of viewers for 7 pm. I guess I’ll watch community and 30 rock :0
I was looking forward to tonight’s episode.
I think ABC made a mistake. I’m not to into a lot of ABC shows at all, but this one
caught my eye way back earlier in the year when they showed previews for it. It was a great idea for a show. I’m pretty upset they canceled. They really should bring it back. At least put the remainig episodes online. I feel that show had a ton of potential…come on ABC.
I thought this show was very entertaining and it’s ruined my thursday night line up. I’m so over grey’s anatomy and the stupid re-runs..it’s no longer good without katherine heigel anyways..thanks for taking away your first reality tv show abc! i’ll just stick with nbc from now on..at least they usually don’t cancel my shows after two episodes!!!
Sooooo disappointed that the show was cancelled. Please bring it back!!!
I was actually kinda hooked on it but now that it’s cancelled, BRING BACK LOST!!!!!!! I REALLY MISS IT!!!!
ABC should really at least let the show have more than three episodes to gain an audience. The pilot of lost was not watched by millions. The probably is that ABC has Grey’s Autonomy syndrome. They expect every show to take off like grey’s did, but they’re not going to.
post them online!
I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!! I hope we get to see the other 6 episodes somehow I need to know what happens to everybody. So not fair to let us get attached then leave us hanging!
WHATTTTTTTTTT??? i was SO looking forward to this show tonight, and ABC goes and CANCELS IT???????
that’s it. no more abc for my family. you can take your channel and SHOVE IT.
wow!! never knew a show could be canceled that fast.. which its sad because it seemed like a really great show. i think everyone could related to this show.
I was looking forward to watching the show tonight, but was immediately disappointed when I saw that an old episode of Grey’s would be airing. The show My Generation was great and will be deeply missed.
I LOVED this show and am very upset when i tried to find it on my tivo. It was so good and dont know why they would cancel it. They are right though, it was not advertised very well. I will DEF. buy the DVD if it comes out NO DOUBT
