Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

I am very disappointed about this. I loved the show and was looking forward to seeing more. You got this one wrong, ABC!!!
I guess the show didn’t have enough violence nor harsh language for it to be a hit. They didn’t have to bleep out any words anyway.
Too bad. It would have been fun to follow the story line.
what a disappointment !!!! i came home early just to catch this weeks episode only find Greys Anatomy in its time slot???
Too bad!! My husband and I enjoyed the first 2 episodes and were looking forward to what was to come
So disappointed! Thursdays are my days for “My Generation” and “Grey’s Anatomy” it was a huge surprise to see that a rerun of Grey’s was on in the slot for My Generation! Bring it back or release the remaining episodes please!!
I’m still mad at ABC canceling “My so-called life” back in the 90’s! So sad this show was pulled. Why do they always pull the good ones without a chance!
So disappointed. This was a great show. I think the problem was the time slot. It should have been on at 9pm. They should try it again.
I loved this show! It was my favorite of the new fall season. I can’t believe it’s been cancelled after only 2 shows! Very disappointed!
I already loved this show, quite unique and intelligent- guess that means cancellation nowadays= maybe a wise cable channel will pick it up
IM SO MAD/UPSET. i seriously was looking forward to this weeks episode. It was really getting good and this next episode looked so good. I really wanna know what happens next, like REALLY bad. I would definitely duy a dvd of th remaining episodes. they should put them up online or something. :(((( im so sad.
Extremely bummed =( So disappointed with grey’s and private I wished they canceled one of those instead. Would totally watch unaired episodes or buy dvd
I absolutely loved this show! I was really looking forward to watching it every Thursday it was a totally different show from Grey’s, Private Practice and other shows. The story lines were great! I am upset about it coming off the air, even though it showed a preview for this week’s episode last week. I really hope they do air or put the last episodes on DVD!
I loved this show! I went to record the series so I wouldn’t miss an episode but it was gone. I am so disappointed. Give it a chance.
My 16-year-old daughter and I loved this show! Yes, we would buy the DVD – we’d buy 20 copies and give them to our closest friends at Christmas! Please finish the other 6 episodes!
so mad that they canceled this! i think it really spoke to the people who graduated around that time 1998-2003 and how things change drastically from high school, jocks marry geeks, and things are so differant.
