Nashville was saved from the grim reaper after ABC cancelled it after four seasons on the air. CMT and Hulu stepped in to bring the series back, but is this fifth season the last for the series? Not likely, according to one of the stars of the series.
That is not the plan right now anyway.
Charles Esten, the man behind Rayna’s love, spoke about the future of the series with Digital Spy. He said the following:
“I’ve heard nothing about this being a season to wrap it up. I don’t think that’s what they have in mind. I think a lot of it will play out with how it goes, and how it looks, and how it’s accepted. Again, in every single season of this show it came down to the end of the season to find if there was another one. We were never picked up for more than one season at a time. We just have never been one of those shows. But we have been one of those shows where every season our fans are hanging on every single word of the networks and trying to figure out what’s happening.”
Esten also thanked the fans for their support. Their work after the show was cancelled helped bring the series back.

I love Nashville. Now I’m very saddened by the death of Connie Britton’s character, Rayna. With the passing of Rayna, I know there are still many different roads yet traveled in Nashville. Please don’t cancel Nashville. This is one show which holds my attention. Kindly.
I love Nashville !!! At least have an ending if you’re going to take it off! This is exactly why I don’t watch very many new shows because as soon as I get into them they just take them off! Ugh! They’re only hurting themselves!
I Love this show and was heartily disappointed when it was cancelled. Certainly, it had enough great reviews and viewers to keep this lively, yet sensitive show going for several seasons. How do they make these judgement calls????? Whatever. Thank YOU for bringing Nashville back to us!!
I was so so mad when I heard Nashville was being canceled. I have watched this show since the very first episode and I absolutely love it!!! I have always given up everything to be in front of the TV on Wednesday notes at 10:00. I want even answer my phone when this show is on. I love this show so much!! I was so very excited when I heard it was coming back on. Thank you so much for bringing Nashville back. I am a very happy person again!!!! Please don’t ever take it off again!!!! Yay!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
