After struggling for years in the ratings, it seems that NBC is really starting to turn things around. Of course, they still have their challenges. Which NBC TV shows will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned!
NBC shows this season (so far): A to Z, About a Boy, AD: The Bible Continues: Allegiance, America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, American Odyssey, Aquarius, Bad Judge, The Biggest Loser, The Blacklist, The Celebrity Apprentice, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Constantine, Dateline, Dateline Saturday Night Mystery, Grimm, Hannibal, Hollywood Game Night, I Can Do That, The Island, Last Comic Standing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Marry Me, Mr. Robinson, The Mysteries of Laura, The Night Shift, One Big Happy, Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, The Sing-Off, The Slap, State of Affairs, Undateable, The Voice, and Welcome to Sweden.
There’s lots of data that NBC looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
I love Debra Messing in Mysteries of Laura. She is perfect for this role and makes the series a must-see for me!!
Taxi Brooklyn – PLEASE RENEW¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taxi Brooklyn, PLEASE!
I look forward to grimm all week long. Keeps getting better. NBC needs to keep this show. I plan my Fridays so that I’m home in time to see grimm.
I agree. Every season it just keeps getting better!
Revolution was my favorite show and it got canceled. I can not believe NBC cancels all of their good shows, except About A Boy. I wish they would make more shows like Arrow.
Wish it would be canceled. the only good shows on NBC are About a Boy and Marry Me. I wish they would make shows like the Arrow
Please, please, please don’t cancel Revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right. Revolution is replaced by The Mysteries of Laura. Revolution should of stayed at its old Tuesday at 9pm time with the voice leading in to it and Revolution leading up to Chicago Fire
As much as I love Meredith V, her show is boring. She needs more variety and less time sitting on the couch interviewing I do like Steve Harvey and of course Ellen. I had really looked forward to Meredith’s show but am disappointed.
Bring back “Revolution”!! Would love to see what happens….would love to have it happen now….Really, keeping all of the other crazy shows instead…..??? Uptopia honestly, these realilty shows are absolutely the worst and won’t watch them…
Of all of the NBC shows noted in this season’s list, one which would be in the top three, definitely, is missing.. Why would NBC drop Revolution? The outcry to bring it back is significant. Just look at the postings and the petitions. With all of that, NBC makes no comment. How disrespectful to viewers can they be. I hope the NBC executives will awaken and reconsider before one of their rivals grabs the reins for this show.
#RelocateRevolution
just like last year, NBC is SNF, Voice, CF and Blacklist, everything else is facing the risk of being canceled
NBC LOVES TO CANCEL GOOD SHOWS!!!!!
Yes,indeed good old Greedy NBC TV just like the fine greedy folks @ ABC TV and CBS TV Good Shows All Always Get Cancelled and the !#^&*! Get to continue to b ore
all of us viewers endlessly! Or,insult our intelligence every time we turn on the “Boob Tube!”
Mysteries of Laura! Love it!
Laura your not alone as I only watch Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and NBC Network News! Other wise NBC can forget it! Wish NBC would wise up and pick up Killer Women now that ABC Mickey Mouse TV Network messed up and cancelled it!
Other than Chicago Fire and SVU, I don’t watch or care about the others. NBC doesn’t have that great of programming.
