NCIS returned for the second half of season 13 on CBS last night. Yesterday, TV Series Finale shared an interview with David McCallum that revealed that Michael Weatherly is leaving the series at the end of this season.
Deadline reported that Michael Weatherly confirmed his departure from the series at the end of season 13 on his Twitter yesterday afternoon. He is one of the four members of the cast that have appeared on all 300 episodes of the series.
DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons pic.twitter.com/GR7YSsmsKJ

I will miss the amazing crew & cast, who are like family to me, & to the fans all over the world – THANK YOU, it’s been a fantastic ride!

Are you sad to hear that Michael Weatherly is leaving NCIS? Will it change the series? Tell us what you think.
yes .I will definitely miss Dinozzo ! NCIS won’t be the same without him. Please bring him back !
Mark Harmon was the “sexiest man alive” in the 70s, Ducky, The Man from UNCLE in the 60s. Not only is this great show showing its age, they are letting go of the “glue” that held the team together. DiNozzo was Gibbs right hand man, McGees and Abby’s big bro and the comic relief. Plus almost 1/3 stories revolved around movie references. CBS is too greedy and the actors and fans, once again will suffer. Should be like Cheers, Seinfeld, who went out on top.
I have recently started watching NCIS in marathon reruns. My opinion the entire cast including Ducky’s mother are fabulous and quite honestly the chemistry between Michael and the cast is the show. I skip the shows with Kate and the blond. They are wonderful women but the sexual tension between Dinozo(sp) and Zeva was serpurb. We haven’t seen that and the quick wit of Dinozo (sp) since the early days of Moonlighting. Trust me without Michael Weatherly people will surely lose interest. I can’t stand the NCIS spin offs yikes. NCIS brought true Hollywood a work ethic and respect back… Read more »
I was thinking I would say that NCIS wouldn’t be the same without some of their main characters….but then I read another post by Steve and have to agree with his view….When Cote de Pablo left, we were all disappointed, but her replacement has captured our hearts…and our interest in NCIS has not waned ! If they decide to find a replacement “agent” to replace DiNozzo, I’m sure they will make that character “fit” just as they did with previous character replacements. As long as Mark Harmon stays….NCIS will continue to be on my “MUST WATCH” list !! (you just… Read more »
I screwed up… I meant thumbs up….changes hard, but NCIS has done a wonderful job with the new Characters… watch all the time, even syndications.
I was very sad to see Zeva leave and if Tony leaves I would like him to leave to go to Zeva
He was the ONLY reason I was watching this show!
Yes I am sad to see him go!! The show just won’t be the same!!!
I will be sad for him to leave the show.
I know how fans of the show must feel to see Michael Weatherly gone after an amazing 13 year run.
When Michael Weatherly the show I know that cbs will replace him with someone else just like Cote de Pablo left she was replaced by Emily and she has done a great I will still watch NCIS
Michael Weatherly when he leaves the show I know CBS will replace him with someone else just like when Cote de Pablo left she was replaced by Emily or Bishop and she has done a great job and I and everybody I know loves her and she’s a great actress and she came in and there was not even a hicup in the ratings all I am saying please renew this great show for several more seasons not just one season at a time it keeps the fans like me on edge at the end of the season.
Sorry but Bishop character was poorly designed and the actress who plays it is well below the skills of her peer actors. NCIS lost an average of 5 million viewers since Bishop came in. Unfortunately it is an aging show that would last another 2 or 3 years only. MW departures will be followed by McCallum retirement next year. In my opinion NCIS will not be able to recover from such losses
I just love him I think with him leaving season 14 might be the last one. So sorry he is leaving.
It is time for this show to end. Yesterday’s showed bored my spouse to tears, and she is (was?) an NCIS fan. But not a fan of the other two NCIS’
Tony DiNozzo is a key character and will definitely be missed. I hope for whatever reason for his leave, it was well thought-out and will prove to be a successful venture.
Maybe he felt the same way as I did when the latest episode crossed over with the horrible NCS: New Orleans. I decided to stop watching the show after that.
Very sad to hear that Michael is leaving. The absence of DiNozzo will leave a big hole in the NCIS family. We were heartbroken when we lost Ziva. Took a long time to warm up to her replacement. Has he said if he has any new irons in the fire yet? I think we’ll ALL follow him to a new show. All the best to him in his future endeavors.
I, too am sad that Michael W. is leaving NCIS. The show will definitely change…..I just hope that they don’t kill him off. I would rather see him go off to find Ziva and finally begin their relationship….
