The ratings for NCIS dropped last season but the series remained the most-watched TV show on network television. While there seems to be no chance of NCIS being cancelled, shows do get more expensive the longer they’re on the air and this one’s been around a long time. Could this be the final season or is a 13th season renewal all-but guaranteed? Stay tuned.
On NCIS, Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team of special agents continue to investigate crimes that involve the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Co-stars are Emily Wickersham, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, David McCallum, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, and Brian Dietzen.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: To no surprise, CBS has renewed NCIS for a 13th season.
Final season averages: 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 17.26 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The 11th season of NCIS averaged a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 18.5 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the NCIS TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a 13th season? How long should it continue?
Still love the show.
My only wish to get a new, preferably female, director.
The present one is quite hopeless.
When Ziva and Tony said their last goodbye I really didn’t believe that it was written in to let Ziva out. The show would have been better off if they had canned some scenes in order to keep her presence alive and not tried to replace her character. Good writing could have kept it going for a long time. Instead, they introduced a weak link with Bishop. The actress playing this lack luster agent is as weak as the part she is playing. Emily Wickersham looks like someone who might hangout with a Paris Hilton type, not with NCIS Agents.… Read more »
People should know went a ty series like ncis it better to watch a drama watching things vampires comic books and comedy shows. NBC had the regular Law& Order for 20yrs seasons too.
Am missing Ziva. Will probably get used to it. Great show.
Last night’s show was a continuation of descending into total boredom. With Tony’s father, we had nothing more than a cut and paste of the old shows sans Ziva. Bish continues to fulfill her exciting role as a standup prop that reads the plasma. No disrespect to the actress, but this character adds NOTHING to this show… no emotion…no personality….no cleverness…no office inter-play…nothing. They are killing my once favorite show.
I agree with your assessment. Ziva had become a very intergral part of the show. Her leaving was bad enough, but plugging in the weak, boring and even annoying character
of Bishop was a big mistake. The actress playing Bishop is even weaker than the character she plays. It ruins the show for me.
is this a series low? or is it 2.1?
Loved the show until they deleted Ziva. The relationship with Tony gave viewers something to look forward to seeing evolve. No closing left everything hanging.
I love love love NCIS. I hope that it wii be renewed for several more seasons.
I have become increasingly disappointed with NCIS over the past several months. The writing has gotten lazy and the show is becoming predictable and boring. The plot seems to be “what flavor of vanilla should we give them this week?” I think I’d rather see reruns.
I would pay cash to see new episodes of NCIS, CSI and the recently departed Mentalist. I have watched every episode at least once. I hope CBS renews NCIS and CSI for years to come.
The implausible current director is ripe for retirement =
the show has such momentum = even such a disastrous mis-casting
is tolerated.
Here is hope for a new female boss.
I hardly ever watch the new NCIS but I do watch the old ones. Just like them better.
It still is great , hate to think of it not being on the air. One of the few shows that offer entertainment with thought and not just some sleezy line to keep you interested.ne.ed more shows like this.
Can I please ask a question: why do shows get more expensive to produce as they get older?
Mostly because salaries go up.
With much regret switched my preference to Blue Bloods.
The current director is a disaster.
As a former senior BritIntel officer can state with some authority =
his bio quite implausible = PC run amok?
Such dis-function at the top is an existential threat to any
professional org = or are we in some fantasy land?
