The ratings for NCIS dropped last season but the series remained the most-watched TV show on network television. While there seems to be no chance of NCIS being cancelled, shows do get more expensive the longer they’re on the air and this one’s been around a long time. Could this be the final season or is a 13th season renewal all-but guaranteed? Stay tuned.
On NCIS, Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team of special agents continue to investigate crimes that involve the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Co-stars are Emily Wickersham, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, David McCallum, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, and Brian Dietzen.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: To no surprise, CBS has renewed NCIS for a 13th season.
Final season averages: 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 17.26 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The 11th season of NCIS averaged a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 18.5 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the NCIS TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a 13th season? How long should it continue?
I love the show, but all good things end. NCIS, however, has earned its stripes and contributed to our viewing pleasure (and the coffers of CBS) for years. They have earned the right to exit on their own terms – not due to cancellation.
Emily Wickersham is probably a very nice person; however, since her addition to the cast the show has declined in viewership. Cote de Pablo as Ziva had a chemistry with her cast mates. The character of Bishop is very, very bad. Her acting consists of two faces, mouth open (shocked expression) and furrowed brow (no idea what that conveys). Even bringing Jamie Bamber onboard has not helped this series. Kudos always to Jamie for his impressive American accent. Please, please bring back Cote, no matter how much you have to pay her.
if you want the show to g threw the roof. where you have everyone waching it bring back ziva. it is not that she is any better then the other cast membrs, she just brings out the bst of them.keeps you on pins and needles , she is a great cast member for te show.
I love this show, ok i miss ziva but i still love the rest of the team.
I hope we will see NCIS for few Years. I would Like to see
Gibbs and Dinonzo with a girlfriend or a wife it should be interesting
NCIS should go on forever..It’s the best show of all time! I would be so heartbroken if it’s not on.
NCIS should go on for ever. I’m a 67 year old english grannie who started to watch because my hearthrob of the 60’s, David McCallum, is in it, but I fell in love with the whole cast. The chemistry between the team is like no other show. The interaction between them is fantastic.
I Like Watching The Old NCIS Episodes That Had Cote De Pablo And Not The New Ones That Don’t Have Her Character I Am Giving A Clear Point To People About This Please Stop Making A Big Deal About What I Am Writing I Stopped Watching Those Episodes Because The Ratings Are Falling Downhill Big Time The Same Thing For Their Sequels
I have seen some of the episodes about those people my parents are watching those please don’t make a big deal about how I am rambling I already know what some of the comments are saying
I Believe The NCIS Cast Is Starting To Run Out Of Ideas For The Way Their Episodes Are Being Made Good For Cote De Pablo For Leaving After Season 10 Was Over But Viewership Was Also Falling Downhill Because Ralph Waite Passed Away And Now The Episodes Are Always The Same As They Were Throughout Seasons 1 Through 10 There’s Nothing New To Say I Was Not Watching The Past Episodes But I Have Heard About How Horrible Those Are I Would Not Blame The Cast For Leaving Right Now I Believe CBS Should Bring All Of Those Sequels To… Read more »
If you haven’t actually seen the episodes concerned, it’s pretty silly to ramble on about how bad they were.
CBS Should Have Canceled NCIS After Their First Season Because The Ratings Were Not Really Good Following The J.A.G Pilots Gibbs Was Wrong To Go To The J.A.G Headquarters With His Team Convicting Captain Rabb Of Doing Something Bad Was A Horrible Idea Because Mark Harmon Is Showing A Lack Of Judgement For Making His Character Successful Admiral Cheggwidden Was Right To Retire At The Same Time Season 9 Was Made That’s All I Am Saying Nothing Else My Views Are Going The Other Way CBS Should Cancel NCIS And Their Sequels At The Same Time This Way There Are… Read more »
You want the show cancelled because of something that happened on a different show over a decade ago. Seriously. And you don’t even watch the show any more. Seriously, listen to yourself. You are being ridiculous.
Dear CBS Television Network. How are you doing? I was a fan of the NCIS series while Cote De Pablo was there but after she left to go somewhere else the writing staff had horrible ideas about how to bring better viewership to families as the ratings are falling downhill. It is a better idea to cancel NCIS before the springtime is ending by giving that a perfect series finale I would really like to see the J.A.G cast coming to the NCIS headquarters past and present staff could convict Agent Gibbs & his staff of disobeying orders please cancel… Read more »
Forensic scenes on a police procedural are disrespectful to the audience? You mean, those forensic scenes which have been part of the show since day one? And the acting is disrespectful?? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Between this and the fact you’re spouting off about a show you no longer watch but apparently still want taken off the air, along with its sister shows, your credibility right now is pretty darn low.
Dude what are you on? Bellasario left 8 years ago!
Looks like this show will hit its series low in the next few weeks. (2.1 I believe)
It did 2.10 April 7 I think
I love watching this show. Please don’t take off the air. This is the most watched tv show everyone I know is watching. Always looking forward when it comes on and when busy doing something. Would hurry up and sit down just to watch this wonderful show.
Great show! Makes me look forward to Tuesday night. Hopefully the show continues for years to come. Bishop brings a quirkiness to the show and I love the Magee and Delilah relationship
AOK =
but pleaseplease let the present director fade out!
Leon is the best director we have had. Great character arc, has become a part of the team, no personal grudges putting the team in danger, and Rocky Carroll is way underrated as an actor. I hope he stays on as long as the show has legs.
Love the reruns of NCIS before bishop. She’s a weak link that brings nothing at all to the show.
