It’s time for San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff to clock out. The Night Shift TV show has been cancelled after four seasons on NBC. The medical drama first premiered in of May of 2014. It ran as a summer series, except in season two, when it was a mid-season replacement.
Airing on the NBC television network, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. The series centers on the quirky, yet extraordinary emergency room night shift at San Antonio Memorial, who’ll risk almost anything to save their patients.
The Night Shift: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million viewers. Compared to season three, it was down by 32% and down by 21%, respectively. The Night Shift did not stack up well against other NBC TV shows. Even among the Peacock Network’s summer series, it earned pretty low ratings, so the cancellation makes sense.
Here is more on The Night Shift cancellation, from NBC, via Deadline:
“We want to thank our amazing creators and executive producers, Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, for their dedication and stellar work; a cast and crew that were second to none; and the city of Albuquerque, N.M., which graciously opened its arms to us,” said Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment. “For four seasons The Night Shift gave audiences a window to heroic doctors, nurses and all-star medical workers who never hesitated to give their blood, sweat and time to help those most in need.”
What do you think? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed The Night Shift TV series for a fifth season? Were you still watching it? Sound off, in the comments.
Why did they cancel it i loved the show they should at least make one last season for the ones who actually loved it… Its like a relationship gone bad people need closure.. Lol
Bring the night shift back i loved it at least one last season
No! Put it back on. it’s a good show.
No, it shouldn’t be cancelled! I looked forward to watching each episode!
Please bring it back. I am 68 and watch it every year. Do not watch any reality tv, will read a good book instead. Bring this back please!!!!!
I love this show. I would never miss it. Please bring it back
One of my favorite shows. Not happy they canceled the show. Great writing, great characters. Will miss very much
PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK I LOVE IT PLEASE, I AM LITTERALY CRYING I NEED MOTE SEASONS PLEASE
Flat out disappointed…one of my favorite shows, and I’m in that 18-49 viewer age that supposedly didn’t like it. I never missed an episode. There are a 100 terrible shows that could have been cancelled. Why’d we have to lose another good one? SMH
Also forgot to mention that besides being a decent show, most of the guys on the show were hot, and that was also a good extra reason for this female viewer to watch, lol.
The only problem with this show is that when the season would end, the network waited too long to put it back on—that’s probably part of the reason it was cancelled—-it would take so long to come back on, people probably forgot about it, or just assumed that it was canceled. Good show, though, and I liked the finale–which I didn’t know was a finale, but it definitely felt like one, and I was right.
I am so disappointed they cancelled this great show that featured veterans and their daily struggles as they integrate back into society via a medical drama background. There was never a bad episode. Please bring it back.
Please Do not cancel Night shift! It is sooooo good!!!!!
Please bring Night Shift back, my son told me about the show and I watched all four seasons in a row without watching anything else. I Love this show, but maybe your ratings would be better, if it was on at an earlier.
Please bring Night Shift back! I love this show!
