It’s time for San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff to clock out. The Night Shift TV show has been cancelled after four seasons on NBC. The medical drama first premiered in of May of 2014. It ran as a summer series, except in season two, when it was a mid-season replacement.
Airing on the NBC television network, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. The series centers on the quirky, yet extraordinary emergency room night shift at San Antonio Memorial, who’ll risk almost anything to save their patients.
The Night Shift: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million viewers. Compared to season three, it was down by 32% and down by 21%, respectively. The Night Shift did not stack up well against other NBC TV shows. Even among the Peacock Network’s summer series, it earned pretty low ratings, so the cancellation makes sense.

Just saw ‘Night Shift’ was cancelled. Why is it that networks make such inane decisions? Excellent cast and story lines, dealing with ER, military, lack of care for the poor, substance abuse, etc. Excellent character development and all so very human. NBC: You made a big mistake.

I think that The Night Shift should have been renewed and actually put in a prime time spot because it’s one of my favorite shows. Get rid of some of the reality shows and put on something that real people can enjoy.
I am very upset they took this off I want them to make a season 5 please there’s not a lot of good shows out there in the summer and I want TC to get with Jordan and have a baby this time seriously bring it back people will watch exspecially if you get them together and they actually have the baby this time please bring it back. I love all the people it’s such a good show I can’t believe I’m begging for another season should be a no brainer.

Should have definitely been a season 5. Another one of my favorite shows canceled. Watched from the beginning, just hope they don’t cancel code black yet.
So those of us over 49 don’t matter, we just aren’t important anymore? We watched and thoroughly enjoyed The Night Shift and hate to hear it has been cancelled. I could give you a long list of others that NEED to go!

Night Shift was one of the best shows. I’m so tired of getting interested in a show and then it’s just gone. Network television has gotten terrible. Some shows don’t even get a good start before they get cancelled. And with all the fall & winter breaks it’s hard to keep up sometimes. Get back to better tv

The best show that I’ve seen in a very long time just got cancelled. It was the same quality as NCIS! I just binge watched the first three seasons on Netflix and I can’t believe that it was cancelled. I didn’t even know about the show until last week. I couldn’t stop watching this fantastic show! There are so many “cream puff” shows that have no substance and have unbelievable plots to them that I rarely watch anything on TV anymore. The actors, the writing and the production were the best! I am just watching Season 4 that I had recorded and checked to see if the Night Shift had been renewed. I was not happy to see that it had been cancelled. I, too, do not understand why you are only basing your ratings on the 18 – 49 year old demographic. They are not the only ones that watch television or spend money! The younger age group do mostly like the reality TV shows – not dramas like these. It has been nice to have something new to watch during the summer when everything else is reruns.
