Though it’s been in danger of being cancelled each year, Parenthood has survived for five seasons. Will it see a sixth year or will this be the end? We’ll have a better idea as the weeks progress.
Airing on NBC since 2010, Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Parenthood has been renewed for a sixth and final season of 13 episodes.
Final season averages: 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Parks and Recreation averaged a 1.8 rating in the demo and 4.98 million viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Parenthood TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
Please keep this show on the air. I came from a broken home and this allows me to experience what a “real” family is like, the hard times they go through and no matter what they are always there for each other. I probably will never be able to experience a family like this ever so it allows me to experience it indirectly and with hope.
I totally agree with all of the rest of the people for all their great reasons, please keep Parenthood, my husband and I love this show. Love the family life and all their real life complications. It is such a breathe of fresh air after all the “FAKE REALITY SHOWS”. I do not watch all the fake reality shows, as it is bad acting staged to look real………Please keep this show,Please!!
Please go on with this show. It’s one of the rare tv shows that actually make fun watching: it’s very close to reality, it’s witty, funny, sad, hopeful – just very emotional and I cry every time I watch it! Makes me connect more with my own family, makes you think about your own family (kids, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins – no matter what! Family is so important and this show truly points that out) KEEP IT UP, PLEASE!!!
Please save Parenthood. It’s the show I look most forward to each week. The characters and actors are first rate. I absolutely love each person on the show. It’s so fun to talk about it with my family and friends the next day. Please don’t cancel it!!!
PLEASE PLEASE DON’T CANCEL!! This show has been my families tv night show for 5 seasons. It’s one of the (very) few shows I feel safe allowing my daughter to watch. This show is far more realistic than made up reality tv. It’s an actual representation of real life family, personal, and individual struggles. I use this show to relate to issues in our own lives. LISTEN UP NBC…ABC has a family channel SO WHY SHOULDN’T NBC have a family show…if NBC cancels this show they will be doing themselves an injustice.
I feel like we watched the ending last night. I will be somewhat saddened but hope that the older shows will still be available to watch. I feel like that show tried to wrap up everything neatly. I did disagree with the Haddie nonsense. EVERY show does not have to have a gay cast member. Less than 5 % of the population is gay. So, why bring this nonsense to what was a stellar show? The Haddie character was always whiny and it was good to get rid of her, but bringing her back this way just shows buckling to… Read more »
Please keep Parenthood. It’s how I stay connected with my two teenage sisters and mother who live 3,000 miles away from me. PLEASE RENEW, it’s what TV use to be, relatable, emotional, yet fun and realistic to life. WITH REAL ACTORS. GO AWAY REALITY TV, keep Parenthood!!!
parenthood is such a wonderful show ,it show the life of a real family ,the love the problems, the sad times, and how being a family sticking together makes it all workout
Please keep this show on for a 6th season. Watching all the garbage TV on each night makes Parenthood a breath of fresh air. I think there are a lot more people watching this show than you think. It is real, it is fresh, and well written entertainment.
The extraordinary writing, directing and acting on this show, with stories drawing in the viewer and covering every issue from adultery to homosexuality to PTSD to Aspergers, was what I, a thinking person, but not an “intellectual, found so very appealing. I truly appreciate the quality of this series, and agree that, if last night’s episode was, indeed, the series finale, it is a damn shame. The fact that lower quality, simple minded humor is allowed to remain, and even be applauded, on tv while something like this is possibly cancelled is a significant indicator of how appealing to the… Read more »
My whole family watch this show. We all love it and can’t wait till the next week. My daughter and I text during the whole show about what we are watching. PLEASE do not cancel this show. It is one of those show that isn’t about killing or bad people or unrealistic. It is one the whole family can watch.
Renewed please. I just love this show. It hits on all the things people can/have/might experience. With all the siblings and their different circumstances it just can touch you, somehow. I do hope they are back for a 6th season.
This is such an amazing show! If they are going to cancel at least have one more season so they can answer a few things. Does zeke and victor get to work on another car. Will Joel come back to his family? Does the charter school actually open? Will hank and sara last? etc etc. I love the show would hate for it to go away!
I really really hope they do not cancel Parenthood—I am so bummed that I just watched the season 5 Finale–My Thursday nights are going to be dreadful now–I always looked so forward to Thursday nights because of Parenthood—Please NBC pick up another season–I want to watch season 6!!
There is so much utter garbage on called “reality” TV. Parenthood is one of the only shows that actually deals with reality. It’s intelligent, beautifully made, and such a pleasure to watch. I hope NBC will stand for quality and renew it!
It will be terrible if NBC cancels this quality program. It allows the viewer to see how families react to real life crises. I think NBC needs to promote this better!
