The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
STUPID TO CANCEL PERCEPTION, AND FRANKLIN AND BASH. 2 OF MY FAVORITE SUMMER SHOWS!!!!! SO MANY GOOD SHOWS BEING CANCELLED!!!!! TO AIR DISTASTEFUL, CRUDE, SEXUALLY ORIENTED SHOWS!!!!!!
OUR FAMILY IS GOING BACK TO DVD’S!!!!!
Loved the show!! Was hoping it would be follow by
Rizzoli cop show.
Just found out that Perception was cancelled. What a shame !!! It was one of the few shows that I actually wanted to see return. The acting was good, the premise was unique and well done. It does make me question what you are thinking. Can’t believe that with all the talk of “baby boomers” and how much of the population falls in that category, that you are trying to reach the 18+ group like every other station. Dare to be different and stay away from the stupid reality shows which seem to be the bulk of what is showing… Read more »
Bring Perception back – it was a terrific TV show.
I would watch Perception on ANY network. It is a great show, thought provoking, intelligent, and shows that, even with a mental illness, life can be lived fully.
Need more positive programming like Perception. The actors did a great job, bringing characters to life.
Save Perception please!
Do anyone think that they read all of these entries? Can anyone answer this question? I really don’t think so because some of these entries are from july of 2015.
This was a fantastic show! I cannot believe it was cancelled!! its completely different then the other shows out there. the only show i would compare would be psych or Monk. It had a great cast and storyline. Im not sure who decides these things but big mistake…
We love this show. Can’t believe it has been cancelled. If we are given the chance, we would watch this show no matter what channel it is on. Please bring it back.
I can’t believe you cancelled Perception, a great show with fantastic acting , and a new and interesting premise. Rizzoli and Isles is falling apart and the only good original TNT series is Major Crimes. Who is making these dreadful decisions? It looks like I’m switching from TNT to reruns of Family Feud.
RENEW IT PLEASE!!!!!
I live the Perception series. And the ending was terrible.
This show was entertaining and always kept you wondering what was going to happen next. I am so sick and tired of nothing good being on TV especially all this reality crap. Why the hell do I care what goes on in someone else life. Id there no one with any creativity anymore at least with Perception there was. I enjoyed watching Razolli and Isles and then Perception. I think that someone needs to get their heads out of their $%^ and bring it back.
Perception should have continued to air. It was a show that was actually different from all of the other detective shows that are currently on TV, which there are multitude.
It’s a real shame that this show was cancelled. It’s one of the few shows on TV where there is good acting, no swx, no swearing and good stories which challenge your intellect. With most shows one figures them out in the first 10 minutes! #Bring back perception
I’ve been watching to see when Perception would be on and just found out it was canceled. I’m so upset as I really loved the characters and the premise. I can’t believe it was canceled with all garbage on t.v. Anymore most of the t.v.shows are the same. I feel this was a big mistake on your part.
I Have been waiting also and then I got on my PC to see what was going on and I saw that it has been cancelled…What a waste of a good show
I can’t believe you cancelled such an interesting show. It was so nice to have a show that didn’t mirror every other “solve-the-mystery” show. And with such an interesting premise…and good acting. Shame on you for canceling this …and for keeping Legends. Bad decision. Not all of us out here are in our 20s…and the “senior” population grows each day…and we’ve lived long enough to know when garbage is being forced on us. Before you cancel any show, why don’t you call for a “viewer vote” instead of assuming what we like or don’t like. I hate to be second… Read more »
With all the garbage being aired in the name of entertainment on today television it was a show worth watching. Not only did it have a novel format but the acting was far and away heads above most of the shows that remain as a poor option. How’s this for a novel idea, instead of conjuring up new mindless reality crap shows that need the intellect of an amoeba to capture and retain ones interest lets bring back a show like Perception that at the very least provoked the viewer to use some of their mind along with Dr.Pierce to… Read more »
