The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
My hubby and I really enjoy Perception. There are so few shows that we both like watching together but this was definitely one of them. Please bring the show back on another station and let tv viewers know where it will be shown.
I loved Perception and would love to see it return!!!!
I not only believe that noone is listening but that noone even cares. Our pleas are falling on deaf ears. Keep it up, maybe someone else will hear and pick it up. Sure hope so.
I have read many replies ,and I have replied several times myself, concerning the cancellation of Perception. There are two questions I pose for consideration. Will anyone responsible for removing the best show in years ; or the cast offer input, or we just venting our spleens?
how do we get a hold of the cast members?
I loved the show Perception. It was one of the few shows left on TV worth watching. I hope some other network will pick it up.
Loved the show, Perception, hate tha it is cancelled!!!!
It is a shame that Perception has been cancelled on TNT. I would continue to watch on another station. Thank you for a great show and great actors.
I was very surprised that is show was cancelled.
Very sad to loose another show that my husband and I enjoyed.
It is a shame that another channel has not picked it up.
I’m with you! Every single time there is a REALLY good show it gets canceled. This sucks!
I loved the show. I can’t believe it will not be back.
I lived this show and others on tent that have been cancelled
LOVED Perception! Would watch on ANY station it moves to! TNT shouldn’t have cancelled it!
The cancelation of Petception is part of a new funding concept for Obamacare.
Obamacare is a extremely expensive insurance. Why bother making it worse and then the government punishing the tax payers for not being able to afford the d__m thing.
I like be that show I wish it was not cancelled. I even watch reruns.
I can’t believe that Perception was cancelled! It was one of the best shows on tv. Why are all of the good shows like Perception, Backstrom and Battle Creek being cancelled, and the awful reality shows keep coming on? Pretty soon no one will even want to watch tv!
I agree with you Sherry, they are taking all of the good shows off of TV and keeping all of these supposedly reality shows own that I wouldn’t wast my time on. I do not settle for just anything to watch on TV, if there is nothing to watch, I turn it off. I think they need to consider this before they decide what to cancel. The only reason I may have not watched Perception when it was on regularly, is because I never knew when it was on. It was hardly ever advertised. I usually had to go to… Read more »
