Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
They should renew. Person. Of interest. Great. Show. Loved it!!
The worst thing they did was allow Taraji Henson’s death. Her character was a major boost to the series. I loved Person Of Interest until then.
I admit, I still tend to watch, but I’m not as faithful as I was before the tragic loss of Taraji Henson.
I was upset when Carter died too but the actress wanted out. What could they do. I really like Shaw and Root. Two tough women. Sarah will be back, the actress said so if the show continues as I so hope. Keep watching, they are showing the 4th season on Saturday at 8 pm. You can’t watch sometimes and keep up. Its a complex show. I think you will enjoy it.
@Laura, please stop. You are not telling the truth. Taraji P. Henson never “wanted out,” and there’s nowhere you’re going to find a quote where she says she wanted to leave the show when they pushed her off. Do we really have to revisit the fact that Nina Tassler, head of programming over at CBS, said that Johan Nolan came to her specifically asking to kill off Carter so he could shove Shaw into the show even more? I hope not, because that really wouldn’t help your case in trying to make Nolan’s bonehead move to kill off Carter “okay”… Read more »
Sorry Elise just reporting what I heard from others. Could you tell me where you get your information you to have the inside track. Can you tell us more.
It’s been reported various places, but here’s the main source: http://www.eurweb.com/2014/01/cbs-exec-explains-why-taraji-p-hensons-person-of-interest-character-had-to-go/
It’s easy to get things twisted if going off of rumors, but if going off of the sources it’s pretty clear that Carter/Henson wasn’t really treated as well as the others from the start, especially if you compare her to how the other women were treated. Why is that? I didn’t even care about the character when the show started, but I care for producers being d-bags even less.
I find it hard to believe that a show as insightful as Person of Interest has only been given 13 episodes! I came to this conclusion based on other ten pm shows. POI. 9.42 ml viewers, NCIS LA 9.28 ml but renewed for a full season, same with HAwaii 5-0 . 9.84 ml,And Elementary at a low 7.42 ml aversge viewers. How do these statistics validate a full season for those shows? I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this CBS decision. This is show that has extremely talented actors playing roles that challenge us to THINK.
I agree with you Judy. POI is the best show. All those other shows are so predictable. POI is very unpredictable. One has to watch every minute. I dislike those mindless shows. They get boring after awhile. I wrote to cbs at cbssc.com to let them know we want a full season. I suggest everyone do it.
The statistics validate those show’s get full seasons for many different reasons. With some of the shows, it’s because the network owns them and so it makes more money off of them even with the lower ratings. CBS doesn’t own POI, so that means that the show actually has to do well and not just marginally meh in order to keep going there. This leads to its biggest problem which is viewers jumping ship left and right. This trend has been a steady one for 2 years now, and so the reduced season is something fans still intending to watch… Read more »
I believe this is one of the few shoes that requires us to stop and think. Please do not cancell this show orcut it’s number of shows.
Please please add more episodes. 13 is way way wsy too little. Please do nt cancel. 10 millions not enough. I think so. Compare it. It rates much better than most shows. No more spinoffs of the same show. Why do you think regular tv is losing its audience. Sameness sameness sameness. Person of interest is different. Save us from the boredom. I beg of you. Thanks
Best show. Please add more episodes. 13. Way way way too little . Pease please don t cancel
Amen to you Chris, I wrote to cbs You should too. The more letters they get the better. Go to
cbssc.com and follow directions.
DONT CANCEL THE BEST SHOW EVER CREATED IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY.
thank you 🙂
Deve ser renovada
Melhor série que eu já assisti
pena que a Joss Carter morreu
era minha personagem preferida.
God, I hope it’s not discontinued! It’s the only regular network program I look forward to.
I know I use to be a Csi fan, but come on now if anything they could afford to lose some if not all of them. I think or I feel losing? Shaw was a huge mistake, I really liked her attitude.
Come on writers keep up the imaginations theirs many ways, and a lot of possibility’s
for this show especially with it being so close to being true to life!
I agree Steve, there are so many possibilities for POI. It could go on for many years. My question to cbs is how many csi shows do we need. They are all the same. Just different characters.
Also the actress that played Shaw left because she had twins. She said she will be back.. That’s why we saw her alive after she got shot.
They have to make moreeeeeeee i cant stop watching
This series has got better and better in my view and the last season which I hope is not the last has brought the machine against its adversary , two AI machines with incredidibel power, where else has any one put this up as an idea, this program is brilliant in concept and imagination, and I can’t wait to see what she does next, keep this going its awsome,
I love this show and love all of the characters. I cannot imagine this dhow not being on TV anymore. I pray that it is renewed and Shaw comes back to the crew.
I love this series, mainly because of the actors, esp. Jim C. He is one of my favorite actors.
This show is a joke of its former self with a bunch of vanilla and uninteresting characters. The machine has more personality than Shaw. What the Hell was Nolan thinking with his so called “cat woman” concept. He traded the multifaceted Joss Carter for the cartoon character of Shaw. CBS is being generous allowing POI to have 13 episodes.
Yes, Rose, and so say the ratings…
The show is interesting because it is not too far from the future ton happen I hope it continues
