NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

Please don’t leave us in the lurch like Heor’s. If writers and producer continue to do this to the viewing public no one will want to watch new shows and invest their time and emotion in them.

i really liked this show. i don’t have regular television so i watched it on netflix… sorry to screw with the ratings ; ) the ending really seemed like they were setting it up for another season.

We just discovered “Persons Unknown” through Netflix . Wewatchedthe entire first season/mini series in two days.
We would certainly like to see more. Sorry to hear about the ratings. We don’t watch regular TV so we don’t know how much stock to put in the rating system. We watch EVERYTHING via internet. Way more affordable and we like being able to watch a whole season of our favorite shows in a few days rather than months.

I loved this show!!! I found it highly addictive. I downloaded the series and watch the entire series in about 2 days worth of watching. But how dare they leave it so open and leaving us hanging like this???
Damn Americans!! This is one of the few shows that I became hooked on after just the 1st episode.
So I would like what ever channel to pick it up and continue it on for a second series at the very least. Please, please, please who ever pick this show up and do a 2nd series.

It is not possible that persons unknown end just like this without second season! there is a lot of mystrical things that the viewer want to know like ” what are they meaning by the programme? why are they focusing in Janet ? at the end of the first season, what is that ship? and when they on the ship the old hotel manager said welcome to the second ( or the next ) level? many questions inside me need to be answered. is there something wrong with the writer? If there isn’t a second season I too would be so disappointed. This show has had me at the edge of my seat and to leave me clinging like that sucks. Its exactly how I felt after season 3 of Deadwood.
i live in the uk and didnt realise this show exsisted till my mate downloaded the pilot for me to watch, once watching that i paused it and was downloading the entire season, its been the only thing i’ve been watching all week, i think it needs at least another 2 seasons to be able to uncover what the programme’s true objectives are!!!
