NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

I would love to see how things go for the same group, and learn more about what happens to both Joe and Janet. There are still many questions left, and it would be great to see at least one more season of this.

I love, love, love this show! It’s probably one of the best TV Shows I’ve ever seen. I started watching it on Netflix and had finished the whole first season within a couple of days! It’s a great show and it should continue for a season two! The ending was good, but the cliffhanger makes me want to watch more! It was in no way satisfying because now I just want to know what happens next and I know it’s not possible because THERE IS NOTHING NEXT. Make a second season!
The show was great, bring it back for a second season. When the ended up on the ship in the seasno 1 finale, I thought..YEAH, it will continur next season. Please give it another chance.
i never heard of this mini series before. caught the first season on net flix in two days. very impressed & am hoping for a season two!!! This show should have had a larger following, must have been on in a bad time slot? If the executives @ NBC read this, it’s worthy of a season two!!!

We loved this show and looked forward to watching it every week . I agree that mess vampires is a positive move. We definitely got into this show and was a weekly topic that we discussed with multiple friends. Everyone I know, and us, is wondering what is going to happen with the new arrivals on level one, and how they will handle the situation . In addition to the contestants which are now in level two . Please bring it back !!!
Absolutely want a season two! Frankly the end of Season One – wasn’t satisfying anyway, was a good cliff-hanger to season two. We have been waiting and checking to see if there will be a season two.
i watched the whole season in two (2) days and couldn’t get away from it. It’s not often you get great shows anymore. finally a great series and you pull it? Someone high up isn’t too bright. I could do so much with this series, the way it ended. So many variations and ideas possible, but it seems there aren’t many original people with creative ideas anymore. Im so freaking tired of awesome shows getting the Axe. Come one networks, less vampire diaries and other crap and more of this. Hell, if they want to cut cost on airing I would buy a collectors dvd set of season 2 for like 60$. However in all likely they will do what they always do and kill this show, if so you guys got any good other shows like this to watch? I love the whole mystery survival thing, group of people meeting and being manipulated. I saw lost so something other pleas.
