Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Proof is a very entertaining series and the finish in Season one was terrific.
I would love to see it continue on to another season, but the end in season one was a great end and an answer that everyone wants to see so I think that if it is finished then so be it….
I am happy with the series that ended.

This show is a treasure! I DVR most of the shows I like, but this one is so good I have to watch it in real time. What a great finale last night! I hope TNT renews it, because there are so many different directions this show can take. Kudos to TNT for putting out a show that doesn’t insult your intelligence.
Proof (2015 TV series) You MUST renew this series!! It had great potential right from the start, but at the end it had me glued to my seat!!
Please cancel ALL the stupid “Reality”, “Talk”, and “Game” Shows and keep this one and others like it ON!!

Very good show that found its footing. One of the better series finales this year. Slow start and a little erratic as a series but towards the end of the season it got itself into an interesting groove that tied in the story lines building to an excellent season finale. Deserves a 2nd season to build on a stellar last 3 weeks
