OWN has been having great success in the ratings with their original scripted series. The cable channel execs have such faith in Queen Sugar that they’ve already renewed the family drama for a second season. Will it be a hit or will they wish they’d cancelled the show instead? Stay tuned.

Set in the fictional Louisiana town of Saint Josephine, Queen Sugar is a contemporary drama that chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings. Following a family tragedy, they must come together to try to save the family sugarcane farm. The show’s large cast includes Bianca Lawson, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Dondré Whitfield, Ethan Hutchison, Glynn Turman, Greg Vaughan, Henry G. Sanders, Kofi Siriboe, Marycarmen Lopez, Nicholas L. Ashe, Omar J. Dorsey, Rutina Wesley, Timon Kyle Durrett, and Tina Lifford.
