TV show description:
A supernatural and historical drama, this TV show is set in the 17th century in colonial Massachusetts. During a significant time in the history of American politics, religion and society, this series tells the story behind the infamous witch trials.
Salem Village and Salem Town feuded over property, grazing rights and church rights. The government was dominated by Puritan leaders. People were scrutinized closely and this resulted in discord. They were afraid of being persecuted for anything that may offend the Puritan mindset and the word “witch” was an easy and appropriate curse hurled at someone who behaved abnormally.
In Salem, the witches are a part of day-to-day life, but they are not who or what they seem to be. Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) is the most powerful witch of Salem and her secrets threaten her position of power. Mary is the wife of George Sibley (Michael Mulheren), the ailing, wealthy head of the Selectmen of Salem.
While leading a double life, Mary depends on her faithful servant and friend, mysterious Tituba (Ashley Madekwe), to carry out her agenda. Mary is ruthless, yet vulnerable; her world is torn into two when Salem’s native son, John Alden (Shane West) returns after many years at war. John and Mary were lovers before he left the Puritan town of Salem.
John takes on the role of being the voice of reason in this town that’s obsessed with witch hunts and unexplained phenomena. He realizes that suspicion and fear result in innocent people being victimized. Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) is a well-educated local aristocrat who leads the witch hunt, preaches from the Bible, and visits a brothel in the evenings.
John and Mary find themselves in the middle of a romance while Cotton’s witch hunt engulfs the town in hysteria and horror, and the supernatural.
Episode #36 — Black Sunday
Mary Sibley’s journey comes to a conclusion, as Sebastian and Alden face off to the death, Mary misplaces her trust in Anne and the fates of Tituba, Hathorne, Alden, Mary, The Boy, Mercy, and more are all determined.
First aired: January 25, 2017.
What do you think? Do you like the Salem TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Just finished all 3 seasons on Netflix and went online to see that the show has been canceled. Such an amazing show with a great cast. That’s horrible 🙁

I love Salem! I’m so upset that it has been cancelled!
SALEM WAS A GREAT SHOW!!! The show didn’t get the push it needed. I recently found out about it, and seriously binge watched it. Great script and acting. It’s a shame this show never got the recognition it deserved. Please do not cancel this show!
I know so many people of varying ages who love this show. Why is it that the shows that have an original script are cancelled? What’s with all these stupid, unintelligent reality shows? Put Salem, on a different night and advertise it better. If we are going out, we recorded it. We didn’t want to miss an episode. Too many series have the same story line, even when on different stations. Has anyone else noticed this? If there is a bombing in one show, turn the channel, and that show has the same bombing theme. Are they all the same… Read more »
We need a new season of SALEM. It is a great show but too bad, not many people know about it. This is MUCH BETTER than all those crappy shows on major network tv that use the same recipe. Chicago this Chicago that, Ncis this Ncis that, master this master that, too many singing crap shows, , too many crappy reality shows!!!!!!!
LOVE THIS SHOW!! Please do not cancel it. I know I will not watch this station anymore without it.
Bring Salem back another Season change the show air time back to Sunday nights. The writers need to come up with new material to keep going. I have watched this show for the past three Season. Would love to see what they might come up with for a fouth.
Absolutely renewed on of the best tv series I’ve watched in long long time right up they’re with supernatural
Love the series-well acted, if a bit difficult to hear on occasion; the finale is poised to lead right into a fourth season-I think that should happen-don’t understand why you cancel all the really good shows
PLEASE do not cancel. Not very often a really entertaining show comes along. Many people I know waited a long time for this season to start and now to think its over is terribly disappointing. Please re-consider, GREAT ACTING; GREAT WRITING and GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!
LOVED THE SERIES COULD HAVE 1 MORE EPISODE, VERY INTELLIGENT WILL MISS. WILL NOT WATCH THIS STATION
Really! You cannot cancel this show. Bring it back. Guess I have no other reason to watch this station. Maybe another station that actually wants viewers will pick it up.
