What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Spike cable channel, The Shannara Chronicles stars Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Aaron Jakubenko, Marcus Vanco, Vanessa Morgan, Malese Jow, Gentry White, Caroline Chikezie, and Desmond Chiam. When season two kicks off, chaos has overtaken the Four Lands. With the population afraid of the return of magic, a body called The Crimson does not hesitate to intimidate anyone as it hunts down magic users. Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Shannara Chronicles on Spike averaged a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 246,000 viewers. Compared to season one on MTV, that’s down by 77% and down by 72%, respectively. Learn how The Shannara Chronicles stacks up against other Spike TV shows.
On January 17, 2018, The Shannara Chronicles was cancelled. Could it return for a third season, elsewhere? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Based on the ratings, things already didn’t look good and then they started airing two episodes a night which smelled like a burnoff. The Viacom execs have been shuffling programs on their channels (including BET, CMT, TV Land, VH1, and MTV) so they may be okay with this big dip in the ratings as they try to establish the new Paramount Network. I’ll keep a hungry eye out and will update this page with breaking developments (and, hopefully, my supper plans). 1/17 update: Paramount Network has cancelled The Shannara Chronicles, but the producer will shop season three to other outlets. Details here.

What do you think? Do you hope the The Shannara Chronicles TV show will be renewed for a third season? How do you feel about Spike/Paramount Network cancelling this TV series?
Love this show
Absolutely RENEW the Shannara Chronicles
Absolutely RENEW!! Love this story!
I really hope that there will be a season 3. This series is one of my favourites.
I hope there will be a renewal for a third season I love this show so much and I’m not going to give up on it now
I’m not in the 18 -49 range but I really hope they renew this for another 20 seasons, not just a 3rd. Its great, better than most of the crap on the major networks.
renewed for a third season off course!! Love this show. When they cancelled Sleepy hollow i was sad to see it go… please don’t cancelled
I really like this show, I’ve read the books at least twice. I love this series as much as I love books. I think you need to go on with the third season, at least because of all those fans who are still enjoying watching this show. I am one of those fans and I will be very happy if The Shannara Chronicles continue.
Bring it back for a third season. It’s a great show. It’s very entertaining I’m hoping it’s around for a long while.
With the change of networks and non-existent marketing budget for season 2 – Shannara has yet to become what it could and should be – straying too far from the books hasn’t helped matters either. They have a wealth of source material to draw from, and at least 2 formidable actors (in Bacquero and Bennet) plus some emerging talent in Jow that could propel the show into a much stronger S3 showing. Also, in Australia at least, every person I know who watches TSC first discovered the show on Netflix as a complete season, and are finding the whole week-to-week… Read more »
It’s not the greatest show I’ve ever seen, but it’s decent enough. Maybe if Spike actually advertised the show maybe more people would actually know it exists. I only caught it by accident while flipping through the channels.
Love this show. It’s even better than season 1. But it seems like they completely abandoned this series. They spent no money advertising season 2. I didn’t even know it was on, and was eagerly waiting season 2.
I missed 6 episodes before I caught it by accident. I had to go online to watch old episodes and as far as I know episode 2 is unavailable. I have to imagine there are other fans of the series wondering what happened to it.
Only read the first book of the series many years ago and not quite sure why I didn’t read the rest as I really enjoyed it. Must have had other things going on at the time. Anyway, I was skeptical at first at to how close they would track with the book – and it was apparent at the beginning that they didn’t start with Book One, which puzzled me. But after watching the series, and especially where they’ve gone with Season 2, now I get it – and think it was a great idea, especially for TV. I really… Read more »
It looks like they’re filming. I follow Ivana and the we’re celebrating Gentry’s Bday at what appeared to be on set. So at the very least they’re preparing for renewal?
cancel this show please. sick of tired of this crappy show with poor ratings
I agree with Marcus. This has nothing to do with the books. Cogline and Mareth are from the First King of Shannara… Mareth thought to be Bremen’s daughter, but she was in truth half demon (here is Eritrea the one being half demon… c’mon!!). Allanon in that book was only fifteen and not even a druid… If they had given these characters other names…. maybe the serie tv would have been credible… this way… no it can’t!! Eritrea bysexual??? please….only because today being bysexual is being exploited it does not means that you have to place it everywhere!!! if the… Read more »
Finally someone said the whole truth! These are problems of this show. I agree with everything you said!
