THE SIMPSONS: In the midst of a major drought, Mr. Burns introduces a Hunger Games-style contest in which Springfield’s children fight each other for a day in Burns’ personal reservoir. Meanwhile, Lisa’s imaginary best friend, Rachel, is jealous of Lisa’s real best friends and starts killing them. Moe tells Bart that the barflies are actually covert agents and that he wants Bart join their team in Homer’s place in the all-new “Treehouse of Horror XXVII” episode airing Sunday, Oct. 16, (8:00-8:31 PM ET/PT).
The Simpsons hit another major milestone with its Halloween episode on Sunday night. The episode marked the 600th new airing for the FOX animated series. The series is now inching closer to the record owned by Gunsmoke. That series aired 635 episodes. The Simpsons will reach that number during its 29th season if FOX renews the series.
Is the series getting closer to its end though? The voice cast is signed on through a possible season 30, but the future for Homer and his family is cloudy after that.
Deadline shared the following about the future of the series in a recent report:
“The Simpsons won’t surpass that count until sometime in 2018 when episode 16 of season 29 airs – assuming that the series is renewed. That’s likely to happen of course: the most recent series renewal back in 2015 only covered seasons 27 and 28, but the cast are all optioned through a hypothetical season 30. Which, by the way is when most observers assume the show will, at long last, fade off into the poorly-regulated nuclear sunset. Not bad for a show that began as a series of crudely animated shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show.”

I want to end horrible and terrible show never like comedy. Really need end 30 good contract to have for that show done quiet well early very funny use love it now I hate it.

I really love the Simpsons show I hope they never end the series it gave me laughs. I hope they don’t stop at season 30 the show deserves more than 30 seasons this show is great so I hope they will keep going with the simpsons and that they will never end
I really love The Simpsons, actually, I think is has something special anyway, considering also that these last seasons are not so great as the first ones, I’m sure that the next seasons could be way better. Worst sitcom ever to grace the small screen. Do us ALL a HUGE favour, cancel the show & burn every episode ever aired to ashes. No show should last more than 10. 11 years, max. The Simpsons is a clear violation of that.
Fox always does this every so-many years. Not saying they are crying wolf, because I do’h want to jinx a national treasure, but that is what they’ve always done.
I’m a new fan on “The Simpsons,” but I known it for months and a few years, but I don’t want it to end because I still need catch up on all the episodes. So, I DON’T want it cancelled at all. PLEASE CONTINUE IT FOREVER!
Sometimes FOX will do a marathon for The Simpsons. They done this many times!
Please let the series reach season 100 yeah it’ll be the longest running show ever well before that but I love the show and many other people do to please let it continue
I hope that is not true and are just a false rumor, I do not want the series ends as it can still break records, ideally Fox him one more chance to have more than 30 seasons and more movies in the future

Please continue the Simpsons, I really enjoy it. Especially the really characters such as homer, Bart, and all the rest of the cast. It makes me really happy and I hope it continues on from this current season.
