Cobie Smulders enjoyed a long and successful run on the How I Met Your Mother comedy series on CBS. Now, she has a dramatic show on the alphabet network called Stumptown. Will this new show be a hit or a flop in the ratings? Will Stumptown be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Based on the graphic novel series by Greg Rucka and Matthew Southworth, Stumptown stars Cobie Smulders, Jake Johnson, Tantoo Cardinal, Cole Sibus, Adrian Martinez, Camryn Manheim, and Michael Ealy. In the ABC TV show, Dex Parios (Smulders) is a strong, assertive and sharp-witted military veteran who lives in Portland, Oregon. She has a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother with Down syndrome, Ansel (Sibus), to care for. With only herself to rely on, she solves other people’s messes with a blind eye toward her own. Her military intelligence skills make Dex a great private investigator, but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and the police aren’t her biggest fans either. Other characters include Grey McConnell (Johnson), a bar owner and Dex’s friend; casino owner Sue Lynn Blackbird (Cardinal); Dex’s friend Tookie (Martinez), a taco food cart owner; and Lieutenant Cosgrove (Manheim) Detective Miles Hoffman (Ealy) of the Portland Police Bureau.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/26 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Stumptown TV series on ABC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*9/17/20 update: Stumptown has been canceled after an initial renewal by ABC.
Tonight We’d 11/27, stumptown is repeated, how come?
Really liked the first few episodes, but the last three have been grating, don’t think I’ll continue.
Absolutely love this show. Never miss it. I sure hope it gets renewed for a second season.
I think the show is great! it is different and the cast is awesome! i like the vulnerability aspects, i like the ptsd, relationship issues, alcoholism, felon, just really well rounded for this day in age but in a healthy, non mocking lighthearted way which leaves you intrigued in this comedic drama. i really hope it sticks around. Smulders is the perfect fit for this role and her cast mates round out the show really well! season 2 please and thank you! lol
This is only one of three new shows I’m watching this dismal new season — Emergence and Prodigal Son are the other two.
Either the premises of the new shows were of no interest to me, or the trailers were a complete turn-off (Unicorn).
This has been one of the worst Fall seasons ever. No wonder so many old shows are being remade — Hollywood has run out of imagination. And writing talent.
LOve this show I hate to start watching any networks new shows. Cause when they have new one on they always pull after first season. Mayb if they give shows alittle more time they would do so much better season 2 3 4 etc. just saying. Love this show. tk u
They should stick to the cases. The character is an odious human being. It’s sad because the actress is gorgeous. But as a person the character sucks. I will stick with it for now but if they continue to keep making her so entitled and unlikable, am outta here!
The pilot of this show was great but now they plot has changed to add competing characters and the episodes drag into each week instead of ending in an hour like the pilot. If this show gets cancelled…this will probably be the reason.
great show. should be renewed
I’m still enjoying this show, but I’m not a fan of Dex’s alley-cat morality. Regardless, this is an amazing cast — the wonderful Camryn Manheim, Donal Logue and Michael Ealy.
Great show with a great female lead. I really hope it sticks around.
I Love it! Action packed, great characters and storyline. I hope it’s a hit! Dex is fantastic!
I don’t know if I like it or not. I think I need to give it at least two more episodes. The casting is phenomenal I have no complaints there and while it’s action packed it seems rushed. There’s never a moment to unpack or reach an emotional climax in a scene before they move onto the next. While I appreciate Stumptown not beating around the bush it fails to allow us to connect to these characters. I feel like I’m only getting an outline and nothing in-depth. The character who sticks out most to me is Tookie, his facial… Read more »
This to me was the BEST pilot episode on network TV since LOST. very disappointed with the ratings but I hope a strong word of mouth helps it out.
Liked the first episode. “What’s the matter with YOUR face?” — hilarious. But since I liked it, the show will be cancelled quickly.
Yeah, everything me and my sister love it’s like the kiss of doom. Hopefully this one makes it!
