TV show description:
Set in the 1990s, this single-camera comedy is based on the autobiographical book I Suck at Girls by Justin Halpern (Sh*t My Dad Says).
Jack Dunlevy (Christopher Meloni) is an ex-military oncologist who’s also a no-bull kind of guy. He sees little, if any, need to sugar-coat the truth. Jack’s been a typical working dad who left most of the parenting to his stay-at-home wife. But now, his wife Joanne (Rachael Harris) is starting law school and this leaves Jack as a full-time parent for the very first time.
Their teenage son Frankie (Connor Buckley) is just starting his freshman year in high school. He’s quick-witted but unsure of himself and just wants to fly under the radar. But over the summer, he grew 10 inches, threw a no-hitter against a rival team, and started to attract girls. These events started getting him noticed which put him in some awkward situations that he wasn’t ready for.
No matter how embarrassing Frankie’s situations are, Jack is there to pick up the pieces and lead his son to manhood — with the least gentle hand possible. Although Jack may be unorthodox and unfiltered, his intentions are always good however and he’s Frankie’s only resource right now.
Even more confusing to Jack is his daughter, Rachel (Claudia Lee), a gorgeous and super-smart 17-year-old high school junior. Up until now, she’s done everything right. But no longer under the watchful eye of her mother, she has become a handful.
In addition to disciplining his own children, Jack looks out for Frankie’s best friends. George (Kevin Hernandez) is an overly confident Mexican-American with a big vocabulary while Mikey (Tyler Foden) is a tough kid from a broken home.
Only time will tell if Jack’s blunt and unpredictable parenting style will keep his kids out of trouble — or if Joanne will have to put down the law books and step in to keep the family order.

What do you think? Do you like the Surviving Jack TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
This show should have been RENEWED NOT CANCELLED!
it was the best sitcom on TV!
This show needs to find a new home on TBS or USA since FOC doesn’t seem to know what a great show they have right under their noses!!
BRING IT BACK!!! Awesome show, and so funny.
I can’t believe this show was cancelled – I’m still in denial. Obviously, there were too many family values involved – parents who are still together and love each other, a mother who is bettering herself and getting an education instead of relying on a man or the government to take care of her. I guess what we need more of on TV are shows about single women sleeping their way around Manhattan or more reality TV, please tell me who wants to Marry Harry? It’s really a shame and a huge statement as to where our society is heading.
My husband thinks, and I am starting to agree with him, that it doesn’t matter anymore how good a TV show is, how good the writing and/or actors are, and the viewer base, it is all about the money. The more money they can pull in from big advertising and certain demographic area viewers, that is the bottom line. I have looked at the viewer numbers and some of these shows being cancelled have more viewers than other shows that I think aren’t worth watching, but are being cancelled anyhow. There has to be a financial reason.
The problem with TV is their is to much reality tv. We need more sitcoms and every sitcom that you can sit down as a family and watch that is going to be the first show to go. Who cares about who is going to marry prince Henry. When I sit down with my kids I want something the family can enjoy. Right now we have been so disgusted with tv it’s not about family it’s only about numbers.
This was the best show in years. Why was it cancelled??? It makes no sense. It only aired 7 episodes. At least finish the season. Please bring it back or sell it to another station. It makes me very said that it’s over before the first season was ever even finished. Please please please bring it back or finish it.
Cheers

Who makes these decisions? This is a refreshingly funny show. Fox get your head out, this one is a keeper . Christopher Meloni is great as sell as the rest of the cast!!
LOVE this show!!! My kids love this show and asked that I send this out as well. We want this hilarious show to continue and will be happy to follow it wherever it goes. So disappointing when a great shows are canceled and not so great ones continue on the air. Christopher Meloni is awesome as Jack. Bring it back, please!
WTH!! This is such a funny show. You have to bring it back….please stop the cancelation of shows just because you think they aren’t meeting your so called viewing numbers game.
Great show. Bring it back!
This is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. I laugh so hard it hurts the first second and sometimes 3 times I watch it with other family members. The humor is right on the money. This and the Goldbergs were two shows I could not wait to see each week. If they don’t keep this one, another network should pick it and it’s writers up, and keep it going. My wife and I frequently have different tastes in humor and we both love this show and will follow it wherever it goes.
We love this show – it is really, really funny. The writing is superb and the acting is great. These people are so good together – please bring it back or another network pick this show up. It has the potential to be a long running hit.
One of the funniest shows in quite a while on ANY network. Writing was superb. Don’t understand the reason for canceling. Seinfeld, Friends were bombs in the beginning & turned out to be smash hits. Just needed time with the audience. Very disappointed. Hopefully another network will pick up this gem.
I usually don’t watch 30 minutes shows. But I did watch this one by accident and ended up really enjoying it. I hope someone brings it back next session. If not fox then what ever station does was increase their viewership by myself and friends.
I can”t believe they cancelled the show. My family loves it. It is funny and down to earth.I finally found a show that did not have drugs, alcohol, and a bunch of scantly dressed people on it. It”s a dam shame.
I think it is a real same that they cancelled the funniest show on TV! I waited every Thursday to watch it . I also DVR it so I also wouldn’t miss it. You need to bring it back.
