CBS cancelled SWAT at the end of last week. Series star Shemar Moore (above) did not waste any time before speaking out about the police drama’s abrupt cancellation. *Status update below.
Also starring Alex Russell, Jay Harrington, Kenny Johnson, David Lim, and Patrick St. Esprit, the SWAT series was inspired by the 1975 TV show and the 2003 film of the same name. The story follows the Special Weapons And Tactics unit of the Los Angeles Police Department.
In recent weeks, the renewal of the series seemed all but assured. Talks were ongoing, and the only issue was the licensing fee from Sony Pictures TV. According to Moore, the cast was also assured, week after week, that a seventh-season renewal would happen.
Moore said the following about the cancellation of the CBS series, per THR:
“It makes no sense. We’ve done nothing wrong. We did everything that was asked for.
SWAT is the most diverse show on CBS. CBS, when I got hired to be Hondo on SWAT, was getting a lot of flak for lack of diversity. If I post this, and I think I might, I will get in a lot of trouble with CBS because I’m calling them out. Because they’ve been wonderful to me for 26 out of my 29-year career. But to abruptly get told that you’re canceled when you led us to believe last week — and the week before, and the week before that — that we would have some semblance of a season seven to at least say goodbye, if not continue. And to abruptly be told, ‘You’re done.’
I will be fine, but I’m upset because I busted my whole entire a** to prove that I could do this, and I did prove that I could do this. I understand it’s not personal — it’s business — but I still have faith that SWAT will live to see another day. So I’m asking my homies, my fans and my baby girls, and the rest of the world who follow me or follow the show, follow the cast, my brothers and my sisters: Make some noise. And let them know that canceling SWAT is a mistake.”
The sixth season of SWAT ends on May 19th.
What do you think? Do you want to see a seventh season of SWAT? Do you want another network to pick up this series?
*Update: The CBS series has been revived and renewed for a seventh and final season.
I was surprised and upset when I saw SWAT was cancelled. How do you cancel a show that has great ratings without warning. She mar and the rest of the cast are amazing. The writing is awesome. Everything about it is. So glad ABC has picked up for season 7 and hopefully beyond.
Greed is destroying our country. Sony is hurting a lot of people who work on this wonderful show. Plus all of these apps, streaming, cable are draining our wallets which will limit what we can pay for
It’s a mistake. I love SWAT. The characters are awesome they all work so well together.
I STAND WITH SHEMAR AND ALL THE ACTORS ON SWAT . I AM SO DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I HAVE FOLLOWED SHEMAR AND I THINK YOU CAN TAKE SOME OF THE STUPID SHOWS OFF THAT HAVE A TERRIBLE RATING. PLEASE PLEASE DON’T TAKE SWAT OFF.

Very disappointed SWAT was cancelled. Super cast and super show.
Once again, CBS shows they’re a..holes. Swat is fantastic, and my young grandson watches it with me ever week. Instead of firing SWAT they need to fire the a..holes who did this. Once again CBS SUCKS!!!
Cancelling SWAT was the worst decision
We are very disappointed in your decision to cancel SWAT. PLEASE renew season seven. We have been loyal watchers.
Standing with #Shemar
Do not cancel seat.
It amazes me how a network can cancel a show like S.W.A.T. and keep some of the other ridiculous shows that you NEVER hear anyone talking about. I think this is a big mistake on CBS.
Renew SWAT IT’S A WONDERFUL SHOW WATCH EVERY SHOW.
CBS should abrubtly cancel T.P.I.R not S.W.A.T.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL S W A T- IT;S THE BEST SHOW ON TV!!!!!
