Sweet Magnolias has some new company. Netflix just announced Jamie Lynn Spears, Chris Klein, and Justin Bruening have joined the upcoming TV show, Deadline reports.
Based on the Sherryl Woods novels, the drama series is set in South Carolina and “centers on three women (Monica Potter, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley), best friends since childhood.”
Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for Sweet Magnolias, but you can read more character details below:
Klein will play Bill Townsend, Serenity’s leading pediatrician who struggles to navigate life in a small town after an unexpected fall from grace.
Spears will portray Noreen Fitzgibbons, a young woman who came to Serenity to work as a nurse. After a sequence of bad choices, she is determined to build a new life in her new city.
Bruening will play Cal Maddox, a former professional baseball player who arrived in Serenity looking for a fresh start.”
What do you think? Have you read the Sweet Magnolias books? Will you watch the Netflix series?

and hope these are all renewed for many more seasons excellent shows cast and crews I have two friends one who recommended Sweet Magnolias and one who I got to watch these series too were all enjoying these show series
also would love to see Barbara Taylor Bradford book movies
thanks so much please renew our new favorite shows
I love these books. And I can’t wait to watch the series.
I haven’t read any of the books. It doesn’t sound very interesting. There are so many programs about people struggling or trying to redeem themselves. I watch TV to forget about real life, I don’t care to see other people’s strife. Give them superpowers after being exposed to a biohazard, or make one a serial killer and I might tune in.
I am looking forward to seeing Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. They have done a great job with Chesapeak Shores. Love Sheryl Woods books and look forward to the new series. Thanks for bringing another family friendly show to the screen.
