Last season, NBC moved their highest-rated scripted series, The Blacklist to Thursday nights where the network’s had serious ratings problems for years. The series lost a lot of viewers but the execs are apparently still committed to airing it on that night. Will the numbers continue to fall in season three or will they rise? Could The Blacklist be cancelled or is it a sure thing to be renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader). He offers to help the authorities if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is his partner. The FBI then essentially works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. Last season, Liz was framed for assassinating a senator, went on the run, and her name was added to the FBI 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list. The other castmembers in this drama include Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marno and Hisham Tawfiq.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
12/7 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a fourth season.
5/20 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of The Blacklist averaged a 2.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.51 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like The Blacklist TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for third season?
If Elizabeth Keen is no longer part of the story, I will no longer watch this show.
My husband and I look forward to every Thursday night watching the Blacklist. It is the best show we have enjoyed watching. Even my granddaughters and their friends watch it. It would be wrong to take it off !!!! Love this show….
Best show going…acting outstanding….need to keep Elizabeth Keen and Tom as part of the show…really don’t care to watch it if you get rid of either one of them.
The Blacklist is the best show NBC currently has on air. To cancel it would be unfathomable. Do not cancel this show. Even with Liz gone, there are tons of story lines that can be written.
Why would you even consider canceling it … Most intriguing show ever … James Spader is the best actor … Whole cast is phenomenal … Would certainly HATE to see it canceled …
The Blacklist is a drama that makes you want to see next week’s show now. I would hate to see it canceled.
this is the best show on tv/ why do you want to cancel it?
I like Blacklist very much and would hate to see it cancelled!
OMG!!! You can’t cancel the best show on TV!!! Please! I absolutely live for The Blacklist each Thursday!!
I was very disappointed when Liz died although it was beautifully done and heartrendingly sad. I was hoping it was a joke, or a dream, but in the next episode she was still dead. (But look at Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones”. Hope springs eternal.) I felt that way when “The Closer” ended – but it got better! Without Liz, I really don’t care if Blacklist is discontinued or not, even though I like the rest of the cast.
Love the show and do not want it to end. Excellent acting by all.
the creator Jon Bokenkamp already announced back in November that the show is renewed for season 4 so… you guys are late.
The network announced it on 12/7/15. It’s noted in the update above the chart.
Renew!
I want to see this continue . A must see for me every week. Why did they eliminate Liz? I loved her role.
I Love the Blacklist. Fantastic acting. Reddington is the best. Can’t wait for Thursday nights.
what did red say to her in the hospital about the baby?
