Sadly, it appears that The Bridge is out. FX has announced that they won’t be producing a third season of the gritty crime thriller.
The Bridge revolves around the Mexican and American police detectives and their efforts to protect those along the Texas–Chihuahua border. The cast of this crime drama includes Demián Bichir, Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Thomas M. Wright.
The show debuted in July of 2013 and the first season averaged 1.77 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The second season concluded earlier this month and the season was way down in the ratings. It fell 37% in viewers (to 1.11 million) and fell 44% in the demo (down to a 0.4 rating).
FX released just a short statement regarding the cancellation: “NETWORK STATEMENT: FX will not be moving forward with a third season of The Bridge.”
What do you think? Did you like The Bridge TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
This was the best show on the air. I can’t believe this show was cancelled.
I am disappointed, I started watching the Bridge late after it began and I was really looking forward to Season 3. I really like the Mexican cop
Bring The Bridge Back
A little late, but after a sad season of missing THE Bridge, i have to say This was an intense drama that should have not been cancelled. Instead they keep a stupid, ****** THe Strain on. Really? The Strain is a brainless pass time with no social value. The Bridge was a social commentary and deep.
We have watched The Bridge on Netflix, did not even know of it previously. Admit to binge watching. The show was violent and sometimes downright bizarre, but I have to admit that the characters were certainly unique: Sonya, Marco, Eleanor, Daniel, and even Hank each brought a certain character to the show. Sad there are no more shows to watch.
I will not be watching FX net work after this cancellation, this was one of my favorite shows, it is too bad when politics plays a hand in the continuation of TV shows that offer true life situations
It was the best show…
A true crime it won’t continue
I did like the show. However, it became blatantly obvious that the producer/writer leaned hard to the left politically. I think that turned some people off. Additionally, the writing in the second season wasn’t as good as the first. I think that Americans are curious about Mexico in general. It’s too bad that it’s off the air. That was my only exposure to the two lead actors.
“The Bridge” is a great show and should be brought back to the FX lineup!
This show really was great, I am upset its over. I really loved the characters and there multilayer personalities
shame on you FX!
this is/ was one of the best tv dramas on tv. compelling, gritty and real…..
SHAME ON YOU!
I bought SS1 & SS2 , fantastic drama!!! I enjoy every program in FX! FX……you all made a huge mistake!!! Every actor/actress are amazing!!! Please rethink, bring The Bridge back!!! As I think, possibility, maybe if the drama was Non-American/Mexican issues, would have NOT given an opportunity to survive. Shame on you all decision makers!!!
too bad, i really liked this show. a lot of moving parts. funny how a lot of good shows get cancelled but crap stays on.
fx sucks for this one
I think it was closer to the truth and it chaffed those idiots, rightfully so. It showed how much corruption is running in their government, really, no more than ours, but I’m sure they whined to El Bozo, and he had it squashed… Just my take on it!
you got to be kidding me. I been waiting for the show to come back on change the season to air it. put it on in the winter months i think the ratings will go up.’
