Are you a big boxing fan? Deadline reports EPIX’s new reboot series, The Contender, will debut in August.
From Mark Burnett, the reality competition show “will feature 16 fighters pushing their limits in grueling elimination-style fights and testing their grit and determination to achieve their boxing dreams.” The original series was hosted by Sugar Ray Leonard, Sylvester Stallone, and Tony Danza before being cancelled by NBC in 2008 after four seasons.
EPIX‘s reboot of The Contender will debut on August 24th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
From EP Mark Burnett:
The Contender takes unscripted TV to its grittiest. It has incredible professional fighters and real professional fights. The edge-of-your-seat drama and true stories sets a tone that our audiences will be expecting, and I love it.”
What do you think? Do you remember the original Contender series? Will you watch the reboot?
Not a big reality TV fan—at all—but there are rare exceptions, and this is one of them. Very much looking forward to this.
