It won’t be long before The Crossing “crosses over” to the television afterlife. The TV show was one of the many cancelled TV shows of the 2017-18 season but clearly, this series has some devoted fans. Why won’t there be a second season?
An ABC sci-fi thriller, The Crossing stars Steve Zahn, Natalie Martinez, Sandrine Holt, Georgina Haig, Tommy Bastow, Rob Campbell, Rick Gomez, Marcuis W. Harris, Grant Harvey, Jay Karnes, Simone Kessell, Kelley Missal, Luc Roderique, and Bailey Skodje. Luke Camilleri recurs. The story unfolds in the small Oregon fishing town of Port Canaan. Tranquility there comes to an abrupt end, when 47 evacuees from a war-torn country wash up on the shore. The newcomers aren’t just any refugees seeking asylum — they’re Americans from 180 years in the future. As the hunt for the truth grows, it will change the lives of the townies and their new guests, forever.
The show got off to lackluster start in the ratings. The premiere of The Crossing drew a meager 0.94 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.40 million viewers. The second and third episodes saw significant declines and later episodes dropped as well. Last week’s installment attracted a meager 0.40 demo rating with 2.53 million.
With ratings like these, it’s easy to see why ABC decided to cancel The Crossing. It’s also no surprise that the network decided to air the final two episodes on a Saturday night.
Could the show have picked up more viewers if it had been given more time? Considering the downward trajectory of the ratings, it’s hard to make that argument. For whatever reason, The Crossing just didn’t resonate with a broad audience.
What do you think? Did you like The Crossing TV show? Would you have watched a second season of this ABC series?
I really enjoyed this show. I am so disappointed that it has been cancelled. I NO longer will INVEST my time in a TV show.
ABC did not give this show a chance! If they don’t change their decision, I am really hoping another network will pick it up.
Yes…I definitly would watch a second season…..I wish the network would have given it more time. I think they cut tv shows too soon.
I just watched the season finale and I thought it would have ended without a cliffhanger but it did. I hope they make a movie or put it on another network like syfy where it would draw the audience it needs. Even though it was only 1 season I wish it was 2
Absolutely I would have watched a 2nd season! There are characters that I really care about and want to see what happens to them going forward. And there are evil types that I want to see get their due. But I especially want to see how the writers deal with this storyline down the road…where they take it with these people from the future, what they know, together with the people from the present, us…especially the sheriff who is a really decent man…There is so much more to be told. Either ABC or Scifi or Netflix, please, somebody, continue with… Read more »
It wasn’t the best show but it was certainly watchable.
Please ensure a tidy last episode ending.
Please do not cross The Crossing. It is the best tv series I have ever watched.
It is sad that great shows are canceled when mediocre crap remains. It really shows the IQ of the USA who prefers looking at garbage like the bachelorette and so called boring “comedy” with “canned laughs” instead of intelligent thrillers.
I really like this show. Something different than ABC’s usual drivel. Network ratings are irrelevant in this day and age of internet TV. I’m an early riser so am in bed at 10 and then devotedly watch it the next day on Hulu as with many other shows I like. Hoping Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon will pick this up. It’s a shame! And yes, I would love a second season.
Love this show, hope someone else picks it up.
I’m really hoping that somehow this amazing show gets a 2 nd season. It’s actually one of the best shows onTV
My mom & I think that the show is very intriguing, & looked forward to watching it every Monday night. The plot twists, story line, and characters are more than enough for us to want to watch a second season. I hope that ABC reconsiders and brings the show back . It is right on the top of our list for favorite shows this year.
Cannot believe this series was cancelled. ABC made the decision 3 episodes in. I don’t know way sometimes you cancel a show 1-3 episodes in and others are given longer time (to include even a new season) even though ratings are low. This was a poor decision and I hope Netflix, Hulu, or another network will pick it up.
Yes…I would watch a second season…..sorry the network didn’t give this show a chance
Our family like The Crossing and are absolutely disappointed ABC is cancelling this after 1 season!
I am so disappointed that this show is being cancelled. It is one of the most thought provoking shows on tv. I hope some other format will pick it up.
