It turns out that The First won’t have a second season on Hulu. The TV show has been cancelled after one year of eight episodes. Deadline confirmed the cancellation.
A British-American Hulu drama, The First stars Sean Penn, Natascha McElhone, LisaGay Hamilton, Hannah Ware, Keiko Agena, Rey Lucas, James Ransone, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Melissa George, Brian Lee Franklin, and Oded Fehr. The story centers on an astronaut crew attempting to be the first humans on Mars, as well as the families they’ll leave behind.
Written by Beau Willimon and executive produced by Willimon and his producing partner Jordan Tappis, the show is owned and produced by Westward Productions (founded by Willimon and Tappis) and co-financed by Hulu, Channel 4, and IMG.
The First was given a direct-to-series order in May 2017 and the only season of eight episodes was released last September.
What do you think? Did you like The First TV show? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled? Would you have watched season two?
Thoroughly disgusted. The First is yet another great, binge-worthy story (series) dumped while awful, BORING shows continue on and on. Just can’t fathom who networks and streamers are catering to these days. Having 1 season of a series like The First is like being given the first 2 chapters of a 20-chapter book to read, and then never having the opportunity to read the other 18. This is why I can count the number of shows I watch on TV/stream on one hand (and 3 of them are News programs!!) Networks/streamers have pushed us away. Back to movies for me,… Read more »
I would have watched season 2. In the future, I will only view series that have concluded with a relevant finale. You have spoiled me for series.
Best show I’ve seen in quite a while. Please bring it back.
A pity, finally an intelligent series, would have been very curious to watch the developments of season 2. Beats other crap out there in tv land, and the acting was it’s strength.
