As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

ABC sucks big time!! Keeps cancelling all the good shows…. I banned it from my TV… I truly refuse to tune my TV to ABC I just don’t want to get hooked on one of their shows cause probabilities are they will cancel it! ABC sucks!!
found this ironic that im just finishing the last couple episodes on netflix and my mom and i lv it. as u all hav sd all the crappy shows keep goin, and gd ones get cncled. really sux!!! i know the end will leave us hanging. been hearing alot of bad things about abc and the dish networks wont pay there prices just 2 keep local channels. wud b nice 2 c another network take it and continue!!!
I also watched this series on Netflicks this past week, actually watched it in under 24 hours 🙂 I loved it, and now I am all sad I watched it just to find out Im never going to get to see what happens, could have atleast ended without the cliffhanger! Same thing happened when I watched Samantha Who, ahh….was that ABC too?!? I really hope someone else picks this series up or….yeah why can’t they just make dvds or something for it…I have to know whats up with the demon kid, but now im thinking he can be with andy… Read more »
I loved this show…got into it midseason and ended up catching up in netflix.I very rarely even watch tv.So for me to get so involve in a series is odd for me.I was truley looking forward to the next season,like a child waiting for christmas.only to find out it has been cancelled.There is very little as far a TV that me and my teenage daughters enjoy together.Thanks ABC for taking that hour of time from me and my girls.Very disappointed!!!!
I get so tired of all of the good programming getting cancelled and the crap shows just go on and on.

dang, found the series on netflix, enjoyed it and found it was already cancelled. There are very few network tv shows I would look forward to, this was one of them. I guess that is why I cancelled my sat and have gone the past few years without tv. Quality is scarce, most of the programs they have are morally defunct at best and lack imagination. It was fun watching an imaginative series that actually didn’t have filthy language and morally corrupt charactors even though the charactors were a bit on the dark side.
Bummer! I also watched it on Netflix and was really starting to get into it and now it’s over. Very dissappointed.

I loved The Gates, I watched it on Netflix and I hate that it was cancelled. It must of just been showed at a bad time because its a great show. Really wished there was more than one season.
I also watched this on netflix and like many other season cliffhanger shows I hate abc for not airing another I wish the creators would make season 2 dvds atleast or find another network
