TV show description:
This is legal/family comedy follows a fictional superstar lawyer who transitions from small screen to small town.
Hollywood icon Dean Sanderson, Jr. (Rob Lowe) returns to his hometown after his TV show is suddenly cancelled. He receives a hero’s welcome from his family, especially from his number one fan and father Dean Sanderson, Sr. (William Devane). Head of the family’s real life law firm, he’s infinitely proud of his handsome and successful actor son.
Slightly less impressed is Dean’s younger brother and real life attorney Stewart Sanderson (Fred Savage) who’s now married to Debbie (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), Dean’s high school sweetheart.
Feeling that the time is right for a life of normalcy and value, Dean decides his next move should be to help out at his family’s firm. With no formal legal training (though having a played a successful lawyer on one of television’s most watched shows for eight seasons), he believes he is more than qualified to practice.
His uncompromising and intense character on The Grinder is a far cry from the real life courtrooms where his brother has worked tirelessly for so long. Oblivious to his brother’s concerns and real life due process, clients are delighted to have the supposedly legendary lawyer represent them.
Episode #22 —
Dean Sr.’s malpractice trial is finally at hand and it will come to a surprising conclusion when Stewart gets sidelined, leaving it to the rest of the Sanderson & Yao team to save the firm and find out who has been the secret mastermind behind Cory Manler and Dean Sr.’s case. Stewart is concerned that Dean’s instincts and Grinder-isms won’t be enough to win the day, and Dean is offended by his own brother’s lack of faith.
First aired: May 10, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like The Grinder TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I guess I won’t be watching anything on Fox again. Since The Grinder was the only reason I watched the Tuesday line-up. I really, really hope Netflix picks it up. Fred Savage and the entire cast was awesome. The writing (and delivery) was hilarious. So disappointed that Fox seems to be all about instant gratification with ratings. I feel in a season or 2 this show would have gathered more of a following…
The Grinder was may favorite TV show, so funny, different, smart. It’s a shame that this extremely well written and acted show gets cancelled!
Where’s the petition?
Loved the show. Please bring it back. It was the only show on TV that make me laugh out loud.
I feel the same… 🙁
I loved this show! Very quirky and entertaining.
Please bring back Grinder! We love the show! Just signed the petition on Change.org. Please sign it to bring this show back,
This is a terrific show. The casting is perfect, the scripts are funny. I rewind scenes because they are so witty and well acted. Unbelievable, that it’s been cancelled.
Big mistake to cancel the show, I thought it was one of the best, well written shows on today. Rob Lowe, Fred Savage and William DeVane were perfect together. I love the fact that there was no annoying laugh track. I was really looking forward to the second season.
Another bad move !!! It was a great show !!!
We loved The Grinder. It was smart and funny, the cast was great. Our favorite show on TV. Really disappointed this was canceled.
Mine, too. Watched it from the beginning. Maybe another network will pick it up and Grandfathered, too, although The Grinder is the better of the two.
This is been one of the best shows in a long time on network TV! Funny and smart! I am so upset that it was canceled! My coworkers and I love to watch it and talk about it the next day at work! I can’t imagine who would’ve thought it was a great idea to cancel this show. I don’t think I will watch Fox network anymore! Boycott!!!! I’m sorry but there must be less than smart people working in there making these decisions !
Seriously???? This show is FUNNY!!!
Who are you referring to? I love The Grinder and Grandfathered has really grown on me.
Great show and cast. Must be renewed!!! One of the best shows on tv.
Cancel New Girl! I can’t stand those eyeglass frames without lenses. Bring back The Grinder and Grandfathered for the perfect one two punch!
Excellent show! great writting, characters & story line. Extremely disappointed in the cancellation! Many of us enjoy a TV show like this that truly make us laugh out loud, instead of the screaming reality shows. Reconsider your fall decision!
I love The Grinder and Grandfathered. It’s New Girl that I can live without. The network made a big mistake. I might just stop watching TV altogether.
