TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Please keep the show! Have only seen bits and pieces b/c I don’t have cable (Netflix and Amazon), but what I have seen I really like! I’m waiting for it to come out on Netflix so I can watch them all! Don’t cancel!!

Keep this show. I love it so much. It made me want to watch television again. The characters are great, their stories are fun, and you never know what will be around the next corner (or on the next page).
PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW ON! I love this show and the movies! Noah Wyle is an incredible actor! The episodes with Flynn are the best and Ezekiel Jones is about the most adorable thing to ever walk the planet! “The Librarians” brings my family together every weekend! Please keep it on! Hope to see the guy who does Ezekiel in more things, he’s a incredible actor!
Keep it. My entire family and I all love this show and watch it every week. We’ve always been big fans of the movies and we’re so excited it turned into a tv series, they would be beyond stupid if they canceled this show.

I am loving the new “Librarians” TV show! Finally, a show on TV that I feel my whole family can all watch together! This is what we are missing in this crazy world today. Shows that are just all around family friendly entertainment! PLEASE bring this show back for another season!
