TNT Opens the Book on a Second Season of The Librarians
Cable’s Hot New Fantasy-Adventure Show Reached 11.4 Million Viewers Each Week
TNT has renewed its hit fantasy-adventure The Librarians. One of the hottest new shows on cable, The Librarians burst onto the scene with a chart-topping launch in December and went on to finish the year as basic cable’s #2 new series of 2014, second only to TNT’s The Last Ship. The show’s success extends across TNT’s multiple platforms, with each week’s episode reaching an average of 11.4 million viewers through linear telecasts, DVR playback and VOD, digital and mobile viewing. TNT has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to launch later this year.
Based on TNT’s hit movie franchise, The Librarians centers on an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. Rebecca Romijn (X-Men), Christian Kane (TNT’s Leverage, Angel), Lindy Booth (Dawn of the Dead, The Philanthropist) and John Kim (Neighbors, The Pacific) star in the series as the newest protectors of the world’s mystical treasures, with Emmy® winner John Larroquette (Night Court, Deception) as their reluctant caretaker. Noah Wyle (Falling Skies, ER) recurs as Flynn Carsen, the role he played in TNT’s movie trilogy.
The Librarians is produced by Electric Entertainment, with executive producers Dean Devlin, John Rogers, Marc Roskin and Noah Wyle.

What do you think? Do you like The Librarians TV show on TNT? Do you think it should have been renewed or cancelled instead?
I liked the movies better, but enjoy the show too. Glad it was renewed.
Great show. One of the few that my wife and I enjoy watching together. Although due to busy schedules we do find time to watch it on demand. TY TNT for renewing it. Hopefully the script writing is has strong in its 2nd season has it was its 1st.
I say keep the Libraians because it a great and fun show. It picks up where the 3 movies left off. I am a fan of the show from day one. It going and for a 3 season.
GREAT NEWS !!!! I LOVE THE LIBRARIANS……………
That’s good. Hoping they renew The Transporter the series
I’m so happy this is coming back. I loved the movies (that precede warehouse 13) and it reminds me of “Charmed” a little. It’s nice to see a show for the whole family. I love seeing John Laroquette back on tv too.
Great show. Enjoyed the character and the actors themselves. Like a previous comment, I did see like warehouse 13.
Glad it was renewed!
I give it 3 seasons and TNT will cancelled it. I like the show. Hope it will be on longer then my guess.
This show is a thousand times better than a lot of shows on tv right now (reality shows). I love it and I hope it is around for many seasons.
So thrilled that #The Librarians was renewed. I watched every episode and loved the twists on classic tales, myths, and legends. Here’s to another season for #Christian Kane and his fellow Librarians to save the world.
Oh My God I love this show. I am so happy it got renewed. Although I wish they had gotten the normal 22 episode season. More episodes to enjoy. Yay TNT! I am happy with you at the moment just don’t pull another Leverage eh?
Not surprised it was renewed but I’m surprised people continued to watch it and maintained the ratings it did. I thought it had so much potential but was disappointed again. It ended up just being overly silly and there is no chemistry at all between Flynn and Eve. Rebecca Romijn was so miscast in this. Even Christian Kane couldn’t save this one for me. TNT’s original programming as of late is just so disappointing.
Your surprise will be lessened if you look at the actual ratings (ie, the overnights) which give a truer picture of viewership than the unaudited numbers given by the PR release.
The show started at 5 million viewers and ended up with 3. Hardly the stuff renewals should be made if, but that’s the world we live in: almost every show, no matter how badly rated it is gets renewed as this is the behavior that’s encouraged by the conglomerate owners: if you renew a flop, you get a raise!!!
So thus will Librarians continue to flop for another year…
I have looked at the overnights. These press releases always inflate or twist the truth to suit their premise. I disagree that almost every show gets renewed, every show with whatever threshold the powers that be deem high enough in the 18-34 demo maybe. If a show gets a large viewership but that viewership is older, over 49, it’s sure to be cancelled as that audience is taken for granted. The ad revenue a show can generate determines everything and all they want is the 18-34 audience that they think can be led easily to buy the products being promoted.… Read more »
Thanks for the interesting response. 🙂 Do check the cable show renewals and you will see that no matter how poorly they do, most TV shows do get renewed (often before a single episode even airs!!!) Cable executives think this will fool viewers (and their bosses) into thinking their flops are hits. You got the elements, but you have them backwards about ratings and ad revenue. Ad revenue stems from overall audience. All the rest is PR. Think about it, why would you sell part of your inventory cheaper when there are so many products that only older people will… Read more »
Yay! This is a great show, a mix of Warehouse 13 and Dr. WHo with a sprinkle of Indiana Jones. This is a must see for me.
Great, this show is adorable
