Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

I love Nate Berkus. I never expected to get hooked on a show about design but this show was so much more. No matter what, I want to be up at 9 a.m. each day to watch Nate. He comes across as warm, welcoming, and fun. He never let’s a conversation go negative, critical or mean. I am terribly disappointed that the show is being cancelled.
Nooooooooo! Every time I have a day off I HAVE to watch the Nate show, and tonight my husband is getting a DVR and the main reason I want it is to be able to watch the Nate show! I asked him for that for Xmas and he was going to get it tonight!! I am so disappointed!! I can’t believe it! Please Oprah put it on OWN! My mother watches it faithfully, and I was hoping to take her to the show (she is 93, but you would never know it! She has always been so fashion conscious, and… Read more »
Please Do not cancel this show! Oprah must put him on her network, or another network could pick him up!! He is so good I can’t believe he is being replaced by Jeff Probst! You really think that he is going to get better ratings than Nate? Don’t cancel Nate!
I love Nate and his show I am very disappointed. During its first season I went to a taping and it was really alot of fun ~ Nate is so natural and warm with the audience.
Com on who wants to see Steve Harvey or Jeff Probst , ughhhh …
I hope HGTV or Hallmark Channel picks up the show !
Oh no! While waiting for my last post to appear, I saw that Martha has been cancelled. Is daytime TV going down the drain!?! Come on advertisers – Lowe’s; Home Depot; Ace; Home Goods; Target; Bed, Bath and Beyond; Michael’s; JoAnn’s; Etsy; etc. Those of us who shop in your stores for AFFORDABLE decorating and DIY products need inspirational programming.
Nate’s show is one of a very few shows that I watch regularly. I can’t believe “The Talk” gets higher ratings! And the Maury show is still on the air? Please OWN – find a place for Nate.
I totally agree. I love the Nate Berkus Show. He has such a likeability & even my husband loves this show, too. His generosity & decorating ideas are a breath of fresh air as well as he shows original decorating ideas for small areas & he actually tells us the costs incurred & what people should really spend their money on for the most bang for your money. He’s just a delight to watch & he covers all aspects of decor from a foyer, to a kitchen, dining room, bedroom, & even closets are updated. He has an amazing ability… Read more »
I love Nate’s show and recently had the good fortune of being in the audience in New York. Nate is very talented and down to earth. I will miss his ideas and hope that another network will pick up the show.
I was quite surprised that the show was cancelled. The show had an easy going characteristic and was very informative for the average person that needs decorating tips. Keep the show Oprah!
Come On ! Just what we need more boring talk shows. Who do they think will watch Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst??? Leave Nate on and promote the show more. Or change the time. Here he is on opposite Regis and Kelly. Now that Regis is gone maybe the Nate show would find new viewers. Please rethink this one.
Do not cancel Nate’s show. One of the best on T.V.
He is the nicest person on t v right now.

The Nate Berkus Show is an entertaining show. Nate is a great host. He always has something interesting to watch. So many different ways to help us with our everyday lives. Keep this shoe please!!!
Major Bummer!!!!!!!!!! The Nate Show ROCKS! It’s one of the few shows that include something for everyone. Nate is so sweet and does so many good things for others! Who needs another talk show w/ people sitting and being interviewed! BORING! This is the first daytime talk show I have ever DVR’d. Oprah, PLEEEEEASE save this show. We all need Nate!!!!
I hope Oprah can do something to save Nate Berkus. Because of my work schedule, I don’t get to watch him nearly as much as I’d like to. He is my preference over any of the other shows in his time slot. Totally awesome personality, great deco idea’s, fashion idea’s……..a truly people’s person. SAVE NATE!!!
I just confirmed that The Nate Berkus Show is cancelled after May 2012. There are so many trashy shows on network tv today: court shows, reality shows, jerry springer and other similar shows with zero appeal or intelligence for me. Take 10 of those shows off the air instead! What a huge mistake, cancelling this show. It’s both entertaining and informative, delivered by a likeable talented host.
I agree with you. Regular daytime TV isn’t worth watching anymore. Thank goodness for cable. We don’t need another talk / cooking show etc. Oprah should bring Nate to the OWN Network.
Whaat?? I live for this show. Great ideas. Nate is adorable. Wonderful funny guests.
Innovative design.
Oprah save this show.
I am so disappointed that this show has been cancelled! I loyally watch every episode. He shares such great ideas for DIYers! OWN definitely needs to pick it up!
