Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

What is wrong with this network? They finally get a decent show with loads of consumer-savvy information and a likeable host and they cancel it. Give it the third year of the contract at least. It needs to be on network TV and accessible to all.
I will miss this show very much. I look forward to watching Nate every day as he is so personable and smart. I hope there is still time for everyone to reconsider their decisions,
I wondered why there were no new shows for 2012 so I looked up Nate and discovered he ha been cancelled!!!! He was my favorite day time show!! Yes, Please move him to OWN!!! I Love Nate!! Thank you. Julie
My mom and I record and watch Nate every day! It’s our favorite. He really helps everyone to make their lives better without having to spend a lot of money. There is so much junk on t.v. and his show is one we actually look forward to watching. Please keep his show on the air! We love him and his show! I’m only 11, but I know a good thing when I see it.
I started watching Nate when I was home after a hip operation. It kept me interested and awake through pain pills! I got better and went back to work, but still tape the show. I have no decorating sense and he is amazing and a great teacher! Keep this guy around- Please!
I can’t believe the show is being cancelled! I record and watch it every day. I am probably one of Nate’s biggest fans since his appearance on Oprah’s Show. Please move the show to OWN.
Please air the Nate show on OWN………… I look forward to this show and I love it…………can’t believe it is going off the air…….Yes, OWN air Nate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe it has been cancelled. I stay home almost everyday to just watch the show. I don’t have a DVD nor do I get the own network.
I think he is very nice and have learned so much from him. I guess my chance to ever get on the show is nill.
I am TOTALLY HEARTBROKEN that The Nate Berkus show has been canceled. He was the highlight of my evenings, as I watched tapings of his fabulous show, after a long day at work. Please find a new home for this show! The loyal fans will follow this amazing man and his show!!!
We need Nate Burkus, not to mention my Mom and her caregiver. We all watch from Seattle to Oregon, and look forward to each show. They watch his show religiously daily, and I tape it! Please bring it to OWN! It is such an encouraging show for me to clear out my clutter and replace it with inspired design!!! We need NATE BACK!!!

Say this is a joke!!! I love his show!! I try to watch it as much as possible. Oh, please don’t cancel his show. If it gets moved to a difference station, that should be alright. Just don’t cancel. I have learned so much and love his ideas!!!Thanks, Cindy Monska
Are you Cindy Garvey from Glenwood ave? Would love to reconnect. Sallyjfield@netscape.net
Nate, I just found you and now I’ve lost you! I record all of your shows and tell everyone about you. Daytime talk shows are boring … you have something to offer! Oprah, please take Nate to OWN!!!
Please move the Nate Show to OWN……. I loved his show and would love to see it on own…..
Thank you
Cindy
That is a huge mistake. Nate is a teacher, designer and an informative TV host. We don’t need any more talk shows and shows to waste your time. Oprah please keep Nate, we all need and love him.
Thank you for giving us two wonderful years.
I am deeply disappointed in the cancellation of this show. If a quality produced program with such a positive intent and messages hosted by arguably the most likable male in daytime television can not survive, I throw up my hands. I love everything about this show and I’m not really a TV watcher. I pray the network and producers reconsider a shortsighted decision to cancel and heed the please of an army of passionate viewers who need their Nate!
