Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

I really hope OWN picks up Nate ‘s show. I really do not understand why it is leaving the air. I find it very informative and relaxing. Enjoyment will be missed.
Good Luck Nate.
Someone needs to pick The Nate Show up! It is the only thing worth watching on daytime tv!
So sad to hear that Nate won’t be on after this season. I always walked away with new ideas from him. Am hoping Oprah will pick up his show for her new network. Nate is awesome!
I think Nate is has an amazing eye for detail and design. I love his style of decor and find his ideas very inspiring. I watch his show everyday that I can and look forward to seeing what his next ideas are. I dream about putting a lot of his ideas to life and have used some of his ideas on texture, color, organization, etc. it’s so practical and helpful. I’m so disappointed and sad not to be able to watch his show after this season. It’s so much better than soaps and reality shows and not junk like most… Read more »

If they cancel Nate on ABC then Oprah should put him on OWN. He has a loyal following and we will miss him terribly.
I can’t afford cable now so when Nate got his own show it was just like I now had HGTV – sorry Oprah but Nate going on OWN won’t make a difference for me. I love the new show CHEW as it’s like having a Food Network on regular TV – lot’s of us don’t have cable and the more of these kind of shows that resemble the cable shows are great – however, not that keen on The Revolution but I never liked the sappy makeover or house rebuilding with Tye show anyway…….
I am so disappointed to hear that Nate is being cancelled. I think the show does great work and I am continually inspired by Nate & his team. I have personally learned so much that I have actually been able to put to use in my own home without spending a lot of money. Being very visual, I truly appreciate the tips and tricks I have been able to see and also review on the website. I either go in to work a little later or DVR the show so I don’t miss an episode. There isn’t any other show… Read more »
I was so sad to read that The Nate Show had been cancelled. I watch it or DVR it every day. My husband occasionally works from home and will come and watch the show. He was shocked when I told him it was cancelled. This from a man who does not watch much TV. He said it was a good show and could not believe they would cancel it. I love Nate’s enthusiasm and the ideas he presents are actually do-able. Please reconsider this cancellation!!!!
Can’t believe they are cancelling yet another good show. It is a shame that good programming is being cut in favor of Steve Harvey. I am very dissapointed in the decisions being made in television programming all over the networks. I am watching less and less television because of it.
I love Nate’s show and have been wondering if there will be any new episodes for the remaineer of 2012? Hope he moves to OWN, rather than not at all. Missing him!
They are crazy to take the Nate Berkus Show off the air when it is only one of a few shows which are informative & entertaining. I DVR’d the show every day while at work. The idiots running the programming are plain stupid – filling up air time with show like The Bachelor, Bachelorette, reality shows & other totally asnign programming. Let’s hope Oprah will see the light & move Nate to OWN. We need Nate with his humor, interesting guests & decorating know-how; especially the “House Proud” segments giving real people real ideas. Boo to “Who Wants to Be… Read more »
Shocked to read Nate’s Show is cancelled when I googled Nate Berkus today. I love the show. Here in Toronto, however, I found it by accident. It is not carried on the major networks I watch. Once found, however, I watch or record it frequently. The man is a delight – articulate, charming, empathetic and good at what he does. Am sure not enough people know he is out there. Have mentioned him to many people here who don’t know who he is. There hasn’t been enough promotion to bring him to viewers’ attention. What can we do to change… Read more »
The Nate Berkus Show is the only show that I watch during the day and look forward to each and everyday! He has a charming personality and a wonderful show full of inspiring ideas and insight. I am so disappointed and hope something changes before may! They just have to keep it on the air!
This is a great show I can’t believe is being cancelled! It’s quality and inspirational. This one needs to be on OWN Network. The reality shows need to be taken off. We need to bring back the good shows and take all the reality off. I for one, am tired of all the fighting and arguing, cussing everyone. It’s like a barroom brawl. Come on America, let’s get some morals back. Keep Nate, he does so much for so many.
I agree! I enjoy the show – especially the several segments which keep your interest throughout the hour. I would love to see a new show for Nate.
