Are you ready for more of the Mikaelsons? The Originals TV show on The CW has been renewed for a fifth season. The fourth season of The Vampire Diaries spin-off kicked off on March 17th and is still ongoing. The show was on the cancellation “bubble,” so this renewal obviously comes as good news for the fans.
The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires, as they battle to reclaim New Orleans.
The Originals: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of The Originals is averaging a 0.34 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 972,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 9% and up by 6%, respectively.
When we sort by the demo ratings, The Originals ranks tenth among the 16 CW TV shows we’re tracking. Sorting by average total audience size bumps it up to the ninth position. This season five renewal makes sense, since it will help beef up The Originals‘ syndication package.
As previously reported, Michael Narducci is departing as showrunner and series creator Julie Plec will take over. Leslie Morgenstern will also executive-produce.

plz plz dont cancel the show… they have already canceled VPD dont take this one away from us too…. I have watched it it from the beginning and there is so much more to tell…. we have to bring the family back together… it cant end like this….
I have watched the Vampire Diaries and the spinoff , The Originals and have enjoyed both since their beginnings. I was very sad that the Vampires series was cancelled. Please do not cancel Originals. It seems every series I get really interested in gets cancelled. I like the CW channel, but this is the only one left that I watch, please keep it. The season finale was one of the best I’ve seen. Cried of course, and the finale of the Vampire Diaries had me crying for a week. Was glad I recorded it.
I cried so much at the end of season 4 PLZ PLZ PLZ make a season 5 there r so many ways I can still continue the show this spinoff show was a good one
I have been following The Originals since the first appeared on The Vampire Diaries. I think Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies make the show. I really wish Claire Holt would come back permanently, but the show is still great. The story line of the show just gets better and better. Cant wait for season 5, and i think it was a great that creatot Julie Plec will take over.

I love the originals and I really think that all the fans of the vampire diaries are watching the originals too as the characters are have so much history with the fans and as a fan my self it’s one of the best programs I never seen as it’s about family friends Loyalty Honour and Love the best things in life it’s made people love watching and growing with this program and the characters so please don’t cancel it please
Season finale!!?? Cried like a baby! This show only gets better and better! The girl who plays Hope is an amazing little actress!!! I hope Freya comes up with some way to bring them all back together… That ending was crushing… So wrenching! I’m so so happy it got renewed!!
I love this show! The actor who plays Clause is such a hansome Man. He plays this character so well. I have so much fun watching this show as part of our family time ritual. Please do not cancel it.
Omg sad ending but glad they are coming back. Eat vampire show next to vampire diaries same heart they had the best love between the brothers is priceless love the michealson. What would add flavor would be to incorporate some vampire diary alumni hope they are on for a long time xoxo
All of my favorite shows are being canceled this year so please please please do not cancel one that is in my top three favorite TV shows ! I am not mad that the vampire diaries is done but please don’t take away the only vice I have left ! I LOVE THIS SHOW! I need my weekly dose of Elijah!
Please please do not cancel The Originals!! It’s the one show I truly wait for each weak and don’t let the world around me effect it . Have not missed one single episode since season 1 episode 1 !!

Love the Originals!! The characters and story lines are phenomenal and look forward to watching it. I rewatch the episodes and always get more out of them. So much to the story lines. Love the show!!Hope all the characters return!!
Ithey have cancelled enough of my favourite shows am so happy to see it renewed they have cancelled enough of my favourite shows they never consider how people in other countries and how much we miss the shows they cancel.
