While Mr. Selfridge has supposedly been renewed, BBC1 has pulled the plug on The Paradise. There won’t be a third season for the period drama.
The Paradise revolves around the people who work and shop at the first English department store. Set in 1875, castmembers have included Emun Elliott, Joanna Vanderham, Elaine Cassidy, Sarah Lancashire, Matthew McNulty, Peter Wight, David Hayman, Stephen Wight, Sonya Cassidy, Ruby Bentall, Finn Burridge, and Patrick Malahide.
Of the cancellation, a BBC spokesperson said, “We are incredibly proud to have made two successful series of period drama The Paradise for BBC1. However, in order to make room for new dramas to come through, The Paradise won’t be returning.”
The show airs on PBS here in the US and only the first season has been shown. That ended in November and there’s been no word of airing the second season yet.

I am terribly disappointed that The Paradise will not be continued. I have been hunting through my PBS schedule for its next broadcast. I need at least one more season with closure!

So bummed to hear about The Paradise being cancelled! I just got really into it after watching season 1 on Netflix and am very sad to discover that there will be no more to watch after season 2. And sad to discover that season 2 hasn’t been released in the US – bring it over here!!
So very disappointed to learn that Paradise has been cancelled and I hope that all the loyal fans will respond to this news so that PBS might reconsider. Quality shows like this are few and far between and I would bet that for all of us that watch,Sunday night is our
favorite night for TV.

Love this series – so disappointed to read it’s been cancelled! I’ve been watching on Netflix and googled to see when new shows would be on and learned it was cancelled – makes me sad. There are very few shows I really like, but this was one of them!
I just started watching The Paradise on Netflix I love it love it i am so so sad to hear that is cancelled. It was a great show with great actors.
I have just binged watched series 2 on Netflix. I am so sad to read that the BBC has cancelled such and excellent show. Everything about it was beautifully done. I hate it when you watch a lovely show and you really get into the characters and then boom it’s all over.
Come on BBC have a heart please:)
I have been patiently waiting for the return of Paradise only to be disappointed t isn’t returning! Why can’t a new series be made but perhaps not a prime time or even a DVD. I preferred Paradise to Mr Selfridge. 🙁

I can’t believe you cancelled The Paradise. You have to find a way to continue the series. I’ve seen a couple of the shows you replaced the Paradise with and none live up to The Paradise. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BRING THE PARADISE BACK.
