After The Playboy Club was cancelled by NBC, Playboy’s Hugh Hefner wrote, “It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience.” Chad Hodge, the TV series’ creator and executive producer, agrees and hopes that the show will find new life there. Hodge is a Chicago native who previously worked on shows like Tru Calling and created CW’s Runaway.
He recently told Out, “I think NBC gave up too soon… Had NBC stuck with the show I think many more millions would have eventually shown up. Those who found the show realized it wasn’t what they expected — it was good. It was entertaining, sophisticated, and dazzling. It dealt with social mores and moral ethics. And it was an intentional guilty pleasure.”
Hodge is hopeful however that another NBC channel might still rescue Playboy Club. He said, “For weeks now, I’ve been saying we should move over to Bravo. This is a fun, sexy, soapy show, and our core audience is women and gay men. No brainer for them. Bravo has wanted to get into scripted programming for years now. I’d love them to pick up the show. If one million people watched our show on Bravo — a quarter of our NBC audience — it would be a runaway hit.”
The show creator believes that Americans are too conservative about sex, but too liberal when it comes to violence. He noted, “What happened? Remember Basic Instinct? Fatal Attraction? The Red Shoe Diaries? We’ve become such prudes… Sexuality is part of life. I’d be more worried about my kid seeing horrific violence than I would about them seeing network-approved make-out sessions.”
What do you think? Is Bravo a better fit for Playboy Club? Would you watch it there?

I think there was more violence in the show than sex. Would love to see it move to Bravo. Just hope it can be in HD.
Great idea.
Very good show.
Playboy club is history for us.
Maybe the youngest prefer ********.
I’m hope the show returs soon.
Thats my true opinion
I would definitely watch this show on Bravo. It’s a great show with a great story line. The characters and plot had just been established and I was looking forward to future episodes . NBC definitely did not give this show a chance. Please save the The Playboy Club!!
Would watch on Bravo,good show
YES!!!! I would defanitly watch series on Bravo or any channel . I think NBC gave up too soon. especially with daytime soaps being canceled. BRING BACK The Playboy Club!!!!!
i would watch it. I have been watching it since it staryed and couldnt believe that they just cancelled it like that after only 3 episodes. The show was awesome.
Yes, yes and yes. Please move it, don’t cancel it ! I love it, and I think Bravo would be a great fit. Please let me know if its moved to another network. I will definatly watch it 😉
That is absolutely a great idea. The Playboy Club was a great show and deserves to be saved especially after 3 episodes in when the story is just getting started. NBC wasn’t the right channel for this show because of its nature. Everything humanly possible should be done to save this show before it is too late. Petitions need to be made and Hodge need to arrange a meeting with Bravo or any other station that wants to pick up this show. SAVE THE PLAYBOY CLUB!!!!!!!
I think that if Bravo doesn’t pick it up, he should petition LOGO to pick it up. Logo is nothing but his target demographic! I LOVED this show!
Omg like for reals NBC ,can’t belive you cut the show…..the first night the playboy club came on I was hook, love it.the story was very good I couldn’t wait for the next one to show and today 10/10/11 there was nothing.its a shame.its history people that’s how some people live back in the days .
I was looking forward to seeing this weeks episode and had my tvo set to record. Then just found out it’s canceled:( please bring it back!! I love everything on Bravo and think playboy club should making it’s new home Bravo!! It’s a cliff hanger and wish/cant wait for it to come back!!
I really hope this show gets pick-up by bravo, I had my DVR to record the series for my husband and I to watch after the football games! Errr!! I’m so upset was looking forward this episodes! 🙁
I really liked this show. It worked in the best of the times – sexual revolution, mobsters, great music, and politics. NBC would rather air culture-void shows like parenthood. Disappointing. Hopefully bravo is interested in airing something with grit and dimension.
People need to get over it, if they didn’t like it, don’t watch it. I was thrilled they finally got a good series on to watch. I can’t believe they took it off!!!! I would watch it on any channel they put it back on and hopefully that will happen. I don’t know why all the protesting, it was a great show with a great story line. My husband and I really enjoyed watching it and we are both 59.
Let bravo take it. NBCs lost. Great show.
