It’s the longest-running American sitcom and it sounds like The Simpsons won’t be ending anytime soon either.
Showrunner Al Jean recently responded to a fan on Twitter and said that favorite bad guy Sideshow Bob had not died and would be returning in season 27.
While he didn’t come right out and say that The Simpsons had been renewed for a 27th season, he did note that, “the simpsons will definitely not end in May 2015. Stay tuned…”
Currently in its 26th season, The Simpsons remains a top show for the FOX network. It’s currently the network’s second-highest rated show with an average 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.45 million viewers.
With the current state of the network’s schedule, there’s no way they wouldn’t bring back one of their top shows, one that the company also owns and profits from in syndication.
What do you think? Do you still like The Simpsons? How long do you think it should run?
Hi my name itsz Alex and i like the Simpson can you please make Lisa Bart and Maggie growing upp ha litel on the next season.:)
It’s time to pull the plug. At least in my personal opinion, it should have ended after Season 13 (which was the last good season of the show, at least in my opinion), or better than that, Behind the Laughter should have been the series finale.
Also, I am not a hipster in any way.
Finally, whether you love the show (even at this point in its run) or not, there’s no denying that On a Clear Day, I Can’t See My Sister is truly the Worst Episode Ever.
great show go til 3o bring futurama back
LOLS!!!
I Can Announce that there Is a High Chance of There Being a Simpsons Season 27 and Hopefully Up-To Season 30. But for Now We are Still In Limbo About The Future of The Highly Popular TV Animation.
Regards,
Chief Executive of FOX
I think the
Simpsons will one for 30 sesons
I think the Simpsons will go until the 30th season, maybe even more, they should go longer, I would like that
I think it will end soon, as the writers can only chomp with new ideas for so long, and when it finally does end, it won’t be the end of the Simpsons on Tv because just like the great tv Series like Happy Days and Mork and Mindy it will always live on through re-runs
It will be a sad day for the world. Not just America. Simpson’s should last forever, or at least till after I’m dead.
Still the animated king. I think South park comes in second and Bob’s comes in third, and family guy comes in fourth. Family guy has gotten really stupid during this last 2-3 seasons. It has gone downhill so much. I understand it has always been stupid to some degree but it has drastically declined.
Keep going forever, still funny, ignore the hipsters.
“With the current state of the network’s schedule, there’s no way they wouldn’t bring back one of their top shows, one that the company also owns and profits from in syndication.”
I have to think that “The Simpsons” is the CAUSE of the current crappy state of the Fox Network’s schedule. This season, it was the top series on the network, and every other show is struggling, even “Family Guy”. These evil animated floating timeline shows will keep getting themselves renewed and producing new episodes just for the sake of it and overtake every good live-action show.
I’m not sure where you got your information but you said “This season [The Simpsons] was the top series on the network, and every other show is struggling, even “Family Guy”.” That simply isn’t true. According to Deadline Hollywood’s 2014-2015 rankings, Empire was the highest rated show both in viewership numbers & the 18/49 demo for FOX this past season. In viewers, The Simpsons was behind, American Idol, Gotham, Bones, MasterChef junior, Sleepy Hollow, Last Man on Earth, Family Guy & Backstrom. Perhaps your source of ratings info says different but it certainly doesn’t appear to be the top anything.… Read more »
The episodes are so unfunny now that its unfunny but saying that my kids still enjoy it so hopefully it will keep going till they are bored of it
Well it’s funnier than Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, American Dad, Big Bang Theory, or any other current sitcom on television and should run for (in my opinion) at least 35 seasons. Maybe more! But yeah, let them age a little. Have Maggie three, Lisa 10 and Bart 12 or 13. Bart and Lisa should be middle-age by now, they can stand to age a few years. I think it would be funny to see Bart go through puberty.
Agreed, I would be so happy if New episodes were still coming out when I have kids of mine own. Would love to see season 50 one day.
Simpsons should go at least to 40. Its still so great.
