THE STRAIN SET TO INFECT WITH SEASON TWO PREMIERE ON JULY 12th
Award-Winning Thriller From Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, Based Off The Best-Selling The Strain Trilogy from del Toro and Chuck Hogan, Returns to FX on Sundays at 10 PM e/p, Beginning July 12th
LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2015 – The Strain returns to FX this summer for its highly-anticipated second season on Sundays at 10 PM e/p, beginning July 12th. The award-winning thriller from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, based off of the best-selling The Strain Trilogy by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, was the most-watched new cable drama of 2014.
As the second season unfolds, the transformation has begun. It can no longer be denied — New York City is rapidly falling to an evil epidemic, and no one is coming to its rescue. Its citizens must fight or die. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his unlikely allies tried to take down the embodiment of this evil — the Master — and failed. Now Eph and Dr. Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) concentrate on creating a biological weapon to wipe out the creatures, while Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) searches for an ancient book he hopes will reveal the strigoi’s entire history…and possibly a way to kill them. Meanwhile, the Master is out for revenge, unleashing new and even more terrifying breeds of bloodthirsty creatures after our team. Our team must find a way to defeat him before the infection spreads too far and becomes irreparable … before they become monsters themselves.
The Strain hails from Showrunner/Executive Producer/Writer Carlton Cuse along with Co-Creators/Executive Producers/Writers Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. Gary Ungar, J. Miles Dale, Bradley Thompson, David Weddle and Regina Corrado serve as Executive Producers. The Strain is produced by FX Productions.

Season two of The Strain joins FX’s summer lineup, which begins with the television premiere of Louis C.K.’s latest standup special Louis C.K.: Live at the Comedy Store on Thursday, May 28 at 11 PM e/p, immediately following the Season 5 finale of Louie. Ooh La! I live in France and we have just seen the first series and I loved it. You are very lucky to be seeing season 2 because we won’t get it here until…. probably 2016. Alors les amis enjoy!!!
Can’t wait. The Strain, season one was truly scary. That’s not something you can say too often of any tv show or movie. Straining to make it til season 2 debut in July.
One of the vampire shows of all time!! Vampire diaries, true blood, originals not even the twilight series can hold a candle to this show. I just hope it stays around for a couple more seasons. Just a great show enough said.
I think I enjoyed watching the first season of The Strain … seems like long ago … If anything can kill a show (even a real good one, remember “Southland”) is a long hiatus … My opinion, thanks …
Having read the books and already see changes to the story (Mostly added characters) from season one. I’m not too sure where he’s going to take things. I hope they don’t do another Under The Dome that basically made a different story than the original in the book. That and this should be like four part mini series instead of long dragged out series. That way they do a better job covering the books…..let’s face it….Under a dome you are only going to have good oxygen for so long before everyone dies….And in the Strain you have to have some… Read more »
I agree. Don’t get me wrong, I like the show, but I think the books were better and while I was reading the books I kept thinking it would make a good mini series. Thing is that I see stuff and wonder “Was that in the books?” I really they don’t change much.
So far he really hasn’t strayed off the books, but I think that’s because he wrote the books too. Sometimes the book is practically a different story. My favorite example is The Shinning. After watching Kubecks version on screen I wanted to see if Steven King made it even scarier. I was amazed to find the book and the movie depicted two similar yet very different stories involving the same characters, location, and situation. I loved Kubicks version, but King was at his best back then and could really write scary books. I looked at it as getting to enjoy… Read more »
