Last week, ABC aired the first original installment of The Whole Truth in five weeks, since October 27th. The ratings-challenged show was bumped from the November sweeps schedule and cancelled in late October.
The Whole Truth’s ratings were anything but positive last Wednesday with it ranking a distant third place in the timeslot. Opposite Law & Order: Los Angeles and The Grammy Nomination Concert special, the legal drama attracted just a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.65 million viewers. That represents a new series low for the Rob Morrow/Maura Tierney drama.
ABC had intended to burn off at least four more episodes throughout the month of December but this poor showing has convinced the programmers to change their plans. The Whole Truth has been pulled from the schedule and replaced with repeats for the immediate future.
On December 8th, Modern Family and Cougar Town repeats will fill the slot. On December 15th and 29th, Cougar Town encores will take over. And, on December 22nd, ABC will rebroadcast the CMA Country Christmas special. It’s unclear what will air on January 5th but a new drama, Off the Map, will debut on January 12th.
There are seven unaired episodes of The Whole Truth left on the shelf. It’s unclear when or if ABC will decide to air them at some point in the future.
What do you think? Will ABC get around to airing the rest of The Whole Truth episodes? During the summer, released online, or never?

Too many good shows are left to dangle in the wind. Show it again SOMEHOW!
I’m a huge tv buff and love legal shows and I got addicted to this show from the start. Thought it was smart and well acted. I think that with the show always taking breaks and never knowing when another episode was going to come on was not fair if you wanted to raise the ratings. I think ABC needs to bring it back and give it an opportunity for people catch on.
I loved the show and it was so different from the other shows on TV. Why do the good shows cancelled? I hate the stupid sitcons.
The Whole Truth has been one of the best new shows to air in a very long time. It’s a sad commentary on our society when a show of this quality is canned in favor of mediocrity.
I think it was a big mistake to cancel it; it should have been promoted instead. I will truly miss this program.
The Whole Truth was the only network show I watched on ABC. It was well written and well acted. With the cancellation of the show. There is no other show on ABC which I have an interest in tuning into. Not giving this show a real chance to make of go of it is simply a bad decision by the management at ABC. I certainly hope another network decides to pick up this series.
I LOVED this show, I am seriously sad! It was incredibly witty and the characters were very relatable, why would they do this! BRING IT BACK!!!
this is really sad that abc did not give the show a chance. I looked forward to it every week. you toss the good shows an keep the crapy ones. REALLY SAD. KEEP IT ON
This is the sort of programming decision that gives one pause. If this is the way new shows are entered into the television format (i e; up against awards ceremonies and established wildly popular proven shows), with few promo spots to entice viewers and with preemptions within the first few airings…..Gosh why ever didn’t it attract an audience? What a shame – well written, well acted, and with the ability to reach a broad demographic across age, race and class. Sooooo….. I want that job – the one that I can keep even if I do wretched work. I want… Read more »
The Whole Truth was one of the few shows that I liked on ABC. They don’t give the shows a chance to pull the viewers needed to prosper. They did the same things with Big Shots in 2007, which actually had increased viewers from week to week. What can it hurt to air the remaining episodes if they are already produced. Here I come NBC.
I dont believe they cut the whole truth off!!! this is a great show. I was looking forward to watching this show every Wednesday. I FEEL LIKE ABC DIDNT GIVE IT A CHANCE. They are using ratings as an excuse. W hen they are comparing the WHOLE TRUTH to shows that been on for years!!!! This is a show that have you thinkin what will the out come be!!!! There isnt a show that EVER been like the WHOLE TRUE!!!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!! I HOPE IT COMES BACK IN JANUARY
This was a really good show. It’s sad that the networks never give some shows a chance just because of ratings. This is the type of show you could pick up watching at any time and get in to. Now it’s back to the same old stuff. Same concepts different names.
I am very disappointed! The show was well-written and interesting, especially seeing the two points of view. I hope that another (alternative?) station might pick it up. Who needs to watch another Law and Order anyway?????
I miss it! One of the best shows of the Fall Season. My whole family (18 to 48 demographic!) looked forward to watching it. Please air the remaining episodes! I don’t watch the shows that are filling it’s timeslot, instead I watch Foodnetwork, even if it is reruns!
if they already have the episodes why not air them?it’s alot better then repeat episodes.if i wanted to watch repeats i’d download them on the internet.very disappointing.i agree it was not given a fair shot,i told all my co workers and friends to watch it and when they did they had a repeat on.
I am very disappointed at the cancellation of this show. I thought it was great and was not given the fair opportunity. It was great to see Maura Tierney back in action again. I think this show should be brought back.
