Last night marked the season finale of the Tyrant TV show on FX. The episode left things up in the air but will there be a second season to resolve them? Will the series be renewed or will it be cancelled instead?
Tyrant revolves around the youngest son of a dictator who returns to his war-torn country in the Middle-East with his American family. The drama’s cast includes Adam Rayner, Ashraf Barhom, Moran Atias, Jennifer Finnigan, Anne Winters, Noah Silver, Mehdi Dehbi, Fares Fares, Alice Krige, Salim Daw, and Justin Kirk.
The series debuted in late June to 2.1 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The numbers took a significant tumble in week two but have gone up and down as new episodes have been unveiled. The 10 episode season ended up averaging 1.55 million viewers with a 0.6 rating (a 0.55 actually).
While Tyrant hasn’t been a big ratings success for FX, it has done relatively well. I suspect that Tyrant will be renewed — not so much on the strength of the show’s ratings but because several of FX’s other shows are doing so poorly.
The Americans was down 33% year-to-year in viewership, The Bridge is down 37%, and new shows Married, Partners, and You’re the Worst have all been ratings disasters. In addition, the venerable Justified series is ending soon after six seasons. FX needs new shows and right now, a series with acceptable ratings is likely looking like a success.
But, what do you think? Do you like Tyrant? Should FX renew the series for a second season or should it be cancelled instead?

My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed the first season of Tyrant.
Please, FX, keep it going … It is complex and intriguing; what more can you ask for?!
Who did the rating –our house gave this this a 9.5 out of 10! It’s almost too real but riveting and extremely entertaining with incredible sets…we want Season 2!
I love this show. Very engaging and great story lines. Tyrant is a show that both my husband and myself watch together. Please have faith in the show.

Listen, this is a very good drama, maybe, exceptional.
It has Made my summer.
With all the inane shows on TV, this stands out, as outstanding.
It is truly a very timely, well written, exceptionally , casted, riveting, production.
The tension and suspense are manifest proof, that this show, should continue.
I have watched every episode of Tyrant and have loved every show. I absolutely love Ashraf Barhom! To me he is the main character and carries the show. I am so surprised I haven’t seen him in his own series? I hope FX really thinks about it twicebefore canceling this show. Breaking Bad took awhile before it got its following and look how that turned out?

I PRAY that it will be renewed. I don’t watch much tv other than sports, not many shows catch my attention or keep me interested, but Tyrant has all the elements. Amazing show. I’m obsessed (lol)! Please don’t cancel this one…
Haven’t watched much TV in years. Just luckily happened to catch the first show in this series. I have watched every show now and love it. ” I’m hooked my friend “. I have to know the outcome of the cliffhanger for I love the character of Barry and the actor is to real! It’s a great timely story and the acting and casting is terrific. Please renew or the rest of my life will be spent in depression.
Lol Stan… but I pretty much feel exactly like you about this show. The acting is terrific, I too want to believe they’re real. I love Barry, and no one could’ve played Jamal better. I couldn’t imagine a reason not to renew it, there’s nothing on TV like this.. Simply exceptional!
