LOS ANGELES, September 7, 2016 – FX announced today that Tyrant’s season 3 finale airing tonight will mark the conclusion of the series. For three thrilling seasons,Tyrant followed the intrigue and exploits of an American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle East nation.
“It’s very difficult to find common ground with other people whose stories we do not know or understand,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. “The creators of Tyrant have done their utmost over three seasons to tell American audiences a tiny fraction of the many gripping, human stories coursing through the Middle East today. We want to thank Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser and their talented team of collaborators, including all the writers, directors, cast and crew, as well as our studio partners at Fox 21 Television Studios, for taking on Tyrant’s tremendously ambitious story with such profound dedication and respect.”
“Tyrant is a beloved show to all of us at Fox 21 Television Studios, and we are indebted to Howard and Chris for their incredible work, and to John Landgraf and everyone at FX who have been fantastic partners,” said Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke. “We feel the show is a gem and we’d love to find a way to keep it in production. That said, we want to be realistic about its prospects. So for its loyal audience, tonight’s episode will be a satisfying end should the series not find another home, but also provides interesting possibilities should we be able to continue on some other platform.”

Another high-quality show bites the dust on commercial TV.
The show is one of the best on TV. I hope it continues perhaps as a streaming series on Netflix or other. The show’s characters were like no other in TV history, and deserve to have a wider audience. Those who watch this show get hooked – but so many others have not even seen a single episode to judge. I’ve been a big fan for 3 seasons, and would like to see a better conclusion – which the season 3 finale really was not. Abuddin hangs in the air now.
Tyrant is a great show and the story deserves another season to properly complete. This ending seemed rushed and there’s still Too many loose ends to tie up. I hope that a streaming company picks this little gem up. I’m tired of zombies and too many stupid sitcoms. Tyrant is a refreshing choice.
I’m more than disappointed that Tyrant was canceled. It was one of the better shows on TV. Without a doubt there could have been a fourth season.
Another great series is axed by someone out of touch with their audience.
Bring back some stupid comedy instead of good acting – good story.
Tyrant was a good show for the first and second season but the writers really messed things up in the third season, Especially how he changed Barry’s character , Should have done a better job to justify his 180 degree change ,
FX seems to be notorious for cancelling great and addictive shows…again we are so very disappointed withFX over cancelling Tyrant…it was something we solo owed forward to.
Making it a point not to watch the crappy show they replace Tyrant with. Don’t like being left permanently hanging at the end of a series. This was an great addictive series, fantastic story line and great acting.
Tyrant is an amazingly well done show and so timely. It’s insane to cancel a show of this quality. My husband and i love everything about this show and it was torture just waiting for the week to pass so we could watch the next episode. Fifty years ago someone decided to cancel a little series called Star Trek………Cancelling Tyrant is as huge of a mistake!
Tyrant is excellent, well nuanced, great acting and should continue.
What a bummer. This is a great show. So disappointed.
I am so sorry to see the show ends but this seems to happen more and more with no logic other than these networks just cancel shows. It is dangerous to get invested in a show and its characters because invariably it will be cancelled, network tv you better be careful-no one will watch your shows because you cancel them just as we get invested
This show was the best i cant not believe that we are left hanging like that last show last night had me at the end of myself you got to come back put youselves in our shoes WOW do not go there please
Please don’t cancel Tyrant. Such a great show
