Tyrant was cancelled after just three seasons on FX, and the reasons behind the shocking cancellation have now been revealed. Bert Salke, the FOX 21 President, spoke about those reasons with The Hollywood Reporter.
Salke said the following:
“We knew after the second year and were really aware that for a show we felt so strongly about — and the fan base felt so strongly about — that the numbers weren’t commensurate with the base for the show. Nobody was more aware than the FX people and John wanted to get in front of it. Chris, Howard and the studio went in with very open eyes and hoping for the best. We were getting behind it the same way we do every year and preparing for any number of outcomes. There were no surprises.”
There is hope that the series will return. Tyrant is being actively shopped to streaming services. It could land on Netflix or Hulu.
Do you want a fourth season of Tyrant? Tell us what you think.
Yes please!! Loved the show. Loved the actors and direction it was taking. Please bring it back!!!!!
Very good show which seemed from the start to be about the seduction of power. It had a Godfather type of appeal. Who didn’t know Barry was going to become more tyrantical? It was most likely canceled because it hit to close to reality and became too complex for the average viewer (i.e. of course you don’t want the Caliphate but how to do so with democracy in a country in which the secular and religious powers are seriously compromised). Then you have do this with continued character development. Netflix or the like really is the only viable solution because… Read more »
Every time there’s a good show it’s canceled.the problem is you need to put a night that’s very convenient and time…just like Betrayel they cancelled that to
I don’t get it put these shoes back ..get rid of all the carnage tv series like all these cop shows there so stupit .and you cancelled Tyran .wow
I loved Betrayal too! Hope that netflix buys Tyrant…that would be amazing
ye we love this show please at least finsh the story..
Yes,, we need to know how it goes,, it is a good show,, why…
There is no question about running a fourth season of TYRANT. When the series was started there must have been a total storyline for the complete work and now you say the network is going to leave us up in the air, shame on you as it was one of the best things on the television. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY A BOOK AND FIND THAT THE LAST PART OF IT HAD NOT ONLY NOT BEEN PRINTED BUT HAD NOT BEEN WRITTEN?
My wife and I watched Tyrant faithfully.I don’t know how your network would expect us to trust you ever again. Leaving this story unfinished is a severe breach of faith and a huge waste of our time.
Yes, please continue the saga. Absolutely loved this show and looked forward to it every week. DVR’ ed it! Doesn’t everyone now a days!
Absolutely. I love this show.
Please bring Tyrant back. It is an amazing show depicting share is happening in the Middle East. My entire family watches it and the characters being portrayed are amazimg. Please bring it back. It’s an interesting show that was on at similar times as other shows.
I could argue that yes advertisement pays for the show but maybe people got sick of the too many commercials and just decided to dvr other md watch it during the week to skip it
Which is what we did.
But please consider revising the show it really is amazing.
Go for another season of “TYRANT” FX , it’s a great series and extremely topical. Unlike a lot of the stuff seen on other networks. as many questions are raised by the interaction of the principles in the show, as are answered. This brings the complexity of the many crisis points in the “Middle East” to the forefront and can help people attempt to understand how difficult it is to find simple solutions.
There’s a lot of crap on TV but tyrant was great why the he’ll cancel it !! I have to record all my programmes because l work all hours and so do many people,it doesn’t mean we’re not watching,it just means we have jobs and a life !!
Yes please
This was one of our favorite shows! Please bring it back!
I’m disappointed to hear it will not be renewed. Though it was a bit uneven and was risking devolution into a “Dynasty” style soapy fashion show at times, it was the only thing on TV that provided at least some window into the lives of people in the Middle East and the complex conflicts that infect that part of the world and that affect the innocent people who live there. Americans tend to be so insular and few have any personal connection to immigrants from that important part of the world. They fail to appreciate their humanity and the struggles… Read more »
